The revision to standard 1926.95, Criteria for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), introduces specific requirements for employers to provide properly fitting PPE for construction workers. Good afternoon, LinkedIn family! We wanted to share our experience with a client on their project last year where we assisted in an accident investigation and conducted a safety stand down. During the Ladder Safety Stand Down, we also discussed the negative impact on the construction industry, the job market, and the cost of living for all New Yorkers due to the rise in insurance claims, many of which, as we all know, are staged. After the stand down, several workers came forward and provided written statements about what they saw and heard. According to their account, this incident was also staged. Witness statements can provide crucial evidence that challenge the validity of the claim. This particular case was dismissed, saving them hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of dollars in potential losses. We continue to assist this cient on their projects by monitoring their progress and conducting weekly safety audit inspections throughout the construction process and we’re proud to say that they haven’t had a single recordable incident on any of their projects in over a year! Also, since we began working with this client we’ve helped them revamp their safety program and encourage all management personnel to get involved with enforcing safety on site. We’d like to add that none of this is possible without top management’s willingness to invest and prioritize safety. When properly executed, safety protocols such as audit inspections, near miss/ hazard tracking, incident investigations, training and safety stand downs help improve your safety program, protecting both the workforce and your company’s bottom line. If you ever need assistance on your project, you can count on us to help however possible. Feel free to reach out anytime to see how we can help you today!
