In their spare time, volunteers often find an activity that’s up their alley. We’re pleased to take part in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Rochester's Bowl for Kids’ sake fundraiser to support young people in our community to help them achieve success in life.
About us
Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) was founded in 1848, and has been in the Rochester community ever since. Today RG&E serves approximately 388,737 electricity customers and 321,651 natural gas customers in a nine-county region centered on the City of Rochester. At RG&E, we've always been dedicated to the communities we serve, and strive daily to provide safe, reliable service to customers. That's why we provide more than electricity. We spearhead conservation efforts, encourage economic growth, assist area businesses and fund important charity organizations through established and often one-of-a-kind programs.

Every day, you enter a room, flip a switch and your lights come on. What you don’t see is the work behind the scenes to make sure that happens. Our communities are growing rapidly. We’re collaborating with building developers and state and local leaders to build a smarter #energyinfrastructure to ensure customers have reliable power when they need it, for both today and tomorrow. #grid #resilience

Our team of volunteer elves helped spread #holiday cheer.🎄They assisted CURE Childhood Cancer Association in setting up for its holiday party, organizing activity stations and assembling food bags for families. It’s moments like these that allow us to show families they’re not alone. #SeasonOfGiving

'Tis the season of holiday lights and festivities. We are pleased to sponsor The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester’s holiday lights tour for another year. The event was a huge success, with approximately 150 people picking up gift boxes filled with holiday treats and a map of the coolest holiday decorations in town. Proceeds from the event help the agency’s mission to end child abuse. #SeasonOfGiving #ROC

With winter weather’s arrival, we want to make sure people in need have a coat to stay warm. We were pleased to support Ibero American Action League for its 11th Annual Coat Giveaway. Our team of volunteers helped sort coats. Because of the community’s generosity, 958 people received a coat. #SeasonOfGiving

We've invested in tech to increase the reliability of our #grid in 2024. Automation technologies mean fewer and shorter duration outages for our customers. NYSEG has installed 544 new devices in the last year to increase this #automation, as well as 29 in RG&E territory. Read all about how we're making service more reliable: https://ow.ly/bhN950Um2sM

On this #GivingTuesday, we’re proud to support so many great organizations impacting lives across New York. We encourage everyone to consider giving today. Together, we can make a difference.
It's #GivingTuesday, a reminder that all of us can make a difference by #giving time or money to the passions or causes that we care about. Through the #AvangridFoundation and our family of companies, we're proud to support so many great organizations — from Habitat for Humanity International and the American Red Cross, to Connecticut Foodshare and the Travis Mills Foundation, just to name a few. And we also love supporting the passions of our employees through #volunteering, to the tune of 23,000 hours in 2023. We encourage everyone to take the opportunity today — or any day — to give whatever they can, no matter how little, to help make our communities safer and stronger. You can learn more about the organizations we support on our web site, and be sure to find a non-profit near you that could use a lending hand. #SeasonOfGiving
