A weekend retreat for a Manhattan mother and her daughter, the 1500 sf prefab cabin - just two hours outside the city - was designed for simple, low-maintenance living. The charred Accoya cladding was selected for durability and low-maintenance qualities, which helping the cabin blend with the natural landscape. Cladding is charred Accoya. Since 2009, I have had the opportunity to work with several generations of architectural students at Northeastern University on the topic of industrialized offsite construction, particularly as it applies to improving the quality, affordability, accessibility, sustainability, and resilience of housing.
