AI has huge potential to speed up and improve #UN #recruitment processes. But our survey of young talent earlier this year, shows that even Millennials & GenZ are reluctant to trust #AI driven recruitment processes. Our latest spotlight highlights new research that explains this #trust gap and how it can be addressed by those integrating AI into their HR processes. https://lnkd.in/gcjUfMr3 #humanresources #artificialintelligence #digitaltransformation

As I close up the ReformWorks European office in Portugal this weekend, I can’t help but reflect on all the incredible collaborators and experiences I’ve had over the last few weeks. Whether it’s overworked, underfunded but still passionate #HR and #learning experts or students exploring innovative approaches to how the UN tackles #grandchallenges, there are a wealth of creative people working tirelessly to make the #UN function more effectively. If we can actually value this expertise and leverage these perspectives, it is clear that we can demonstrate the true impact and potential of international organizations. Thank you for your unwavering efforts in pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Here's to continuing our work together and driving #positivechange for the future!

🗞 UPDATE for our 600+ readers of our article "Fact Checking the Assumptions that underlie UN Senior Appointments" 📣 https://bit.ly/3VNmIxf British diplomat Thomas Fletcher has been named as the new Emergency Relief Coordinator (ERC). He will be the 6th consecutive ERC from the UK. Despite agreement in September's #PactfortheFuture that “there should be no monopoly on senior posts in the United Nations system by nationals of any State or group of States", this is another example of 'ring fencing' a senior UN position for a particular country. Read on to understand how these contradictions arise, and explore whether it is time to challenge the assumptions that underlie such appointment decisions. https://bit.ly/3VNmIxf #OurCommonFuture #UNreform #humanresources

There are some very interesting dialogues on change and reform of the UN and development approaches involving #UN delegates, staff, researchers and reformers, like us. 😀 Inertia is strong, but the desire for more effective and equitable #multilateralism is stronger. 💪
Today, UNU-CPR co-hosted a dialogue with the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) to explore a new IDOS discussion paper, “Universality in Action: Why and How United Nations Development Work Should Engage in High-Income Countries” – intended to prompt a discussion of the #2030Agenda's universality principle. The exchange acknowledged: 🔹 The need to review established approaches centered on a North-South dichotomy, moving to more inclusive structures and decision-making mechanisms to better respond to development shortcomings everywhere; 🔹 The significant ways the #UnitedNations is already engaging in high-income countries to address sustainable development gaps, which could be built upon to improve trust in multilateral institutions if scaled and configured strategically. 🔹 The need to depoliticize data for development but deepen political dialogue on cross-border challenges to better prioritize and fund responses to global challenges. The wide-ranging discussion explored how universalizing the UN system’s development pillar could support these objectives. Thanks to Max-Otto Baumann, Senior Researcher at IDOS for leading the discussion and sharing insights from his recent research with Sebastian Haug on universality and the UN’s sustainable development agenda. We would also like to acknowledge the those who attended the dialogue and shared their perspectives, including representatives from the Permanent Missions of Norway, Germany, Japan, UNDP, UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), DCO, UN Women, CIC Pathfinders, ReformWorks and Cepei Think Tank. 🤔 What is the difference between #governance in the UN and the private sector? 🏦 Corporate board members are obligated to be independent and make decisions in the interest of the company. 🏢 UN board members are #diplomats who represent their country's interests while also making decisions in the interest of the #UN. The latter is a much more complicated task, and rarely acknowledged. Except in the #WFP Governance Review, which is being discussed in Rome today. A similar governance review of the UN Boards in New York does not recognize this dual role of board members, which makes some of the recommendations quite risky. 📖 Learn more about the WFP Review: https://bit.ly/WFPGov And more about the review of NY-based Boards: https://bit.ly/3vZQJR7
