Happy New Year! I know this past few days have been challenging for employees and customers over at Bench Accounting. We are trying to be a support to those impacted and our CEO created a simple web form anyone impacted can fill out plus the many accounting firms and vendors in our industry willing to hire or support customers.

We want to be as helpful as possible for those impacted by the closure of Bench Accounting. We’ll help or refer as many people as we can.

Beginning in 2024, businesses must report beneficial ownership information (BOI) to FinCEN. This applies to most corporations and LLCs registered with the Secretary of State, however, some entities, such as most sole proprietorships and general partnerships, are exempt. Reports must include details like name, address, date of birth, and ID numbers for beneficial owners (those with 25%+ ownership or substantial control). Initial filings are due by January 1, 2025, for entities formed before 2024, and there are significant daily penalties for late filings.
