Last week the #CREATEProgramChicago, along with Senator Richard Durbin, Representative Mike Quigley, Representative Sean Casten, Governor JB Pritzker, State Senator Willie Preston, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Metra CEO Jim Derwinski, and Association of American Railroads President Ian Jefferies, celebrated CREATE’s most significant federal funding award to date. The CREATE partners will receive more than $290 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Multimodal Project Discretionary Grant program to build the next critical segment of the 75th Street Corridor Improvement Project (75th St CIP). This historic funding will propel the CREATE Project EW2a: 80th Street and Belt Junction Replacements, which is set to transform transportation in the Chicago region and beyond. This project implements the next key phase of the 75th St CIP by delivering a suite of improvements that benefit travel time, safety, and state of good repair along a 3-mile elevated rail corridor on Chicago’s South Side.

CHIN is proud to provide project controls services for the Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility (LBNF) in partnership with Fermilab National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL). This groundbreaking initiative aims to design and construct advanced facilities for studying neutrinos by directing a high-intensity beam from Batavia through the Earth’s mantle to a detector located approximately 800 miles away to a detector one mile underground in South Dakota. The project involves extensive excavation, civil and building construction, and the installation of sophisticated experimental facilities and equipment. Recently, scientists at FNAL's Short-Baseline Near Detector achieved a major milestone by detecting the first neutrino interactions, marking an exciting step forward in this research. We’re eager to see the continued progress on this project and look forward to sharing more updates soon!
