In this article from MobiHealthNews, digital health executives share their biggest takeaways from 2024. Here's what Qventus co-founder and CEO, Mudit Garg, had to say: "Reducing the burden of below license logistical tasks on healthcare workers has never been more urgent. We are facing looming labor shortages, estimated at one million too few nurses by 2030, and nearly 50% of provider time is spent on administrative tasks below-license. In 2024, health systems recognized behind-the-scenes solutions like automating archaic processes and reducing administrative burdens. 2025 will mirror what we saw this past year: the solutions that can seamlessly integrate with existing EHRs and workflows and deliver measurable ROI will continue to gain the most traction." The Leader in Care Operations Automation
About us
Qventus is the leading system for care operations automation. Building on formative experiences at Stanford and McKinsey, Qventus was founded in 2012 with the belief that world-class healthcare requires world-class operations. With backing from leading investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, Norwest Venture Partners, and the Mayfield Fund, the company has raised more than $45M to develop a complete system for transforming the operations of health systems and hospitals nationwide. Integrating with EHRs, the Qventus real-time automation platform uses AI and behavioral science to power best practice solutions for operational challenges in inpatient and perioperative settings. Qventus is a proven partner with hundreds of deployments in community hospitals, academic medical centers, and large health systems across the country, including Bon Secours Mercy Health, CommonSpirit Health, HonorHealth, M Health Fairview, and Saint Luke’s Health System. With Qventus, these systems have been able to achieve significant and sustained outcomes, including 30-50% fewer excess days, 1 full day reduction in length of stay, and over 2 new cases added per operating room per month, translating to over $10 million dollars of annual financial value per facility. In this Nasdaq article, Jason Cohen, Chief Medical Officer, Inpatient, at Qventus, shares how AI-powered technology helps health systems increase capacity, enhance operational efficiency, and improve patient care. Some examples: 🟣 Decreasing administrative burden on care teams by automating below-license tasks. 🟣 Reducing length of stay by auto-populating EDDs and dispositions early on in a patient's stay, identifying opportunities for earlier discharge, and optimally sequencing ancillary orders to best support patient flow. 🟣 Increasing OR utilization and boosting revenue by optimizing surgical scheduling, improving utilization of high-value assets, and identifying opportunities for strategic growth. Surgical Scheduling and Surgical Schedulers: Another $35 BN/year problem Given the events of the last week, it is tempting to opine on healthcare insurance companies and how they increase their bottom line by demanding prior authorizations and denying claims. However, with so many people opining on this currently, I don’t see the need for an additional voice right now. Instead, we will consider surgical schedulers, their critical role in the complex process of scheduling surgeries, the lack of suitable, informatic-based tools available to them and the need for AI-algorithmic solutions in this space. But first some here are some byte sized indices on that topic. Strategic Healthcare Indices Number of hospital-based ORs in the United States; 38,329 Average percent of hospital revenue generated by ORs: 60% Charges for a hospital OR minute: ~$153 Average amount of unused elective time per day (M-F, 7:30 AM -5:00 PM) for an 8-OR suite running at 75% utilization: 16.5 hours Percent unused time lost after the last case of the day before 5PM: 50% Average revenue lost due to unused time at the end of the day (per OR): ~$3,500 Per OR per year: ~$889,000 Amount of revenue lost at the end of the day annually (all ORs in U.S.A.): ~$34,074,481,000
