  • 🎉 PyDataMCR is thrilled to announce our latest venture: The Field of Play Sports Data Conference 2025! Manchester's story has always been one of innovation - from the Industrial Revolution to the birth of modern computing with the Manchester Baby. Today, we’re continuing that legacy at a place close to home: at the intersection of data science and sport. Masters in Data Science Student | Ex-Senior Research Engineer @ WNS-Vuram | Ex-Software Engineer @ Newgen Software Technologies. Looking for internship/part-time opportunities as Data Scientist/ML Engineer/AI Engineer.

Recently, I had the privilege of attending an insightful session organized by PyDataMCR. A huge thanks to the brilliant presenters Christopher Dambamuromo and Andrew Stafford-Hughes Chris took us through the world of Graph Neural Network (GNN) and how they can be leveraged in a food delivery platform which is a 3-sided marketplace involving users, restaurants and delivery partners. He also highlighted the shortfall of traditional recommendation models. I was particularly drawn by how GNNs can capture intricate relationships between these entities and provide more accurate and personalized recommendations. Andrew walked us on automating testing in data pipelines using Data Build Tool (DBT). His work on enhancing test automation frameworks for data science at AstraZeneca was equally engaging and highlighted the importance of reliable and scalable testing in data workflows. A huge thank you to the event organizers - Anja Stein, John Carney, and Shaun Hide for putting together such a well-rounded session, providing a platform for learning from two fantastic speakers. The knowledge gained will surely inform my own work and inspire me to dive deeper into the application of Graph Neural Networks. Looking forward to more sessions like this! 🌟 #GraphNeuralNetworks #AI #MachineLearning #RecommendationSystems #DataScience #FoodDelivery #TechEvents #DBT #Python #DataEngineering

Had a great time at PyDataMCR yesterday evening kindly hosted by Auto Trader UK at their amazing offices in the heart of Manchester. Shaun Hide introduced the fantastic Kerry Parker from BJSS who took us through her thoughtful and engaging journey from Data Scientist to Data Engineer. Finishing the night was the incredible Rob Shooter who dazzled us with the statistical approach he worked on with the Met Office around predicting extreme rainfall events. Both talks prompted a lot of thought provoking questions from the audience adding to the community feel of the event. Always great to meet new people and a wonderful chance to network and hear about new opportunities.
