Combating the impacts of climate change and restoring the Sierras of Mexico for a sustainable future.

About us

Sierra Viva is dedicated to combating the impacts of climate change in the Sierras of Mexico, particularly in the Sierra de Álvarez, San Luis Potosí. Our mission is to restore, protect, and regenerate natural ecosystems that are vital for local communities and biodiversity. As climate change accelerates, these mountainous regions face severe threats—prolonged droughts, rising temperatures, deforestation, and loss of biodiversity. Sierra Viva tackles these challenges with innovative solutions that promote long-term environmental and community resilience. Our key initiatives include: Carbon Credits Program: Through large-scale reforestation and ecosystem restoration, we generate verified carbon credits, enabling companies and individuals to offset their carbon footprints while supporting critical conservation work. These carbon credits are essential for funding local community projects and mitigating climate change impacts. Water Projects: We are committed to ensuring that local communities have access to clean drinking water. Our initiatives focus on capturing water from fog and enhancing the understanding of natural underground water distribution systems to improve sustainable water access. These projects directly address the water scarcity issues driven by climate change. Reforestation and Ecosystem Restoration: By restoring forests and wetlands, we enhance biodiversity, protect natural water sources, and sequester carbon. These efforts are crucial for regenerating fragile ecosystems and mitigating the effects of climate change. Community Engagement: We work closely with local communities to create sustainable economic opportunities, provide education, and empower them to be long-term guardians of the environment. Join us in our mission to restore Mexico’s Sierras, combat climate change, and secure vital water resources for future generations. Together, we can build a more resilient and sustainable future for the planet and its people.
