We Move People Forward

About us

PRC is a new $30-million San Francisco nonprofit formed through the merger of Positive Resource Center, Baker Places, and AIDS Emergency Fund. Leveraging a 50-year legacy of community service, PRC is focused on ending homelessness and improving the quality of life in the City by removing social barriers to good health and financial stability. Through PRC’s uniquely integrated legal, social, and health services each year more than 5,000 people are building income, getting healthy, and staying housed. The mission of PRC is to help people affected by HIV/AIDS, substance use, or mental health issues better realize opportunities by providing integrated legal, social, and health services that address the broad range of social risk factors that impact wellness and limit potential.

On Wednesday, December 18, PRC hosted our second annual Client Winter Celebration, and what an incredible day it was! Over 150 clients joined us for an unforgettable holiday event filled with food, fun, and community. This cherished tradition, rooted in the spirit of the AIDS Emergency Fund’s Christmas Dinner (now PRC's Emergency Financial Assistance program), was a heartfelt way to show appreciation for the clients we serve year-round. The celebration featured a hot lunch served by our amazing volunteers and staff, over 70 raffle prizes, live music performed by the incredibly talented Sarai Schwartz, and a high-energy drag performance by Tongolele, who also led a super fun client karaoke session to close out the day. This day wouldn’t have been possible without the leadership of volunteers and staff, and the support of our generous sponsors, including Wells Fargo, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and in-kind donors Rubicon Point Partners, LLC, The Guardsmen, Costco, La Mediterranée Fillmore, and Starbucks. Rubicon Point Partners generously donated the beautiful space which was transformed into a winter wonderland thanks to the generous donation of winter trees from The Guardsmen! Our hearts are full from sharing this magical experience with our clients. Thank you to everyone who made this day so special.

🎄Wow! What an unforgettable 32nd year for Songs of the Season! Your support made it possible for San Francisco’s most delightful and entertaining holiday cabaret to shine brighter than ever. Thanks to you, we hosted two incredible nights filled with joy, laughter, and breathtaking performances and raised more than $30,000 to support PRC’s life-transforming services! 🎼Hosted and produced by the amazing Brian Kent, the show seamlessly blended energy, humor, and holiday magic. Highlights included Brian’s comedic rendition of “My Favorite Things”, and Sister Roma’s hilariously captivating and poignant "T'was the Night Before Christmas" dream, reminding us of the power of community and strength in unity. 🌟Our incredible acts were supported by a stellar band featuring Dr. Dee and Jad Bernardo on keys, Victor Serda on upright bass, Brian Lassiter on saxophone, and Roberta Drake on drums. And let’s not forget the special cameo by Songs of the Season founder Donna Sachet, who closed the show with a heartwarming performance of “White Christmas.”

"For many, we were their chosen family during their most difficult moments." A pioneer of AIDS Emergency Fund (AEF), now PRC’s Emergency Financial Assistance (EFA) program, Stan Wong, reflects on what this season means to him some 30 years into his service to our mission. We hope Stan's story will serve as inspiration to all of us this holiday season. Read Stan's story and donate below.

How do we achieve real results for our clients? The path forward always begins with a conversation. PRC changes San Francisco by changing the circumstances of individual people, one conversation at a time. Whether it be navigating the complexities of federal benefits and healthcare, charting a course for a meaningful career, or problem-solving a financial hardship, our dedicated staff practice this belief every day. When you support PRC this #GivingTuesday you're practicing the belief that we have the power to make the world around us a better place. https://lnkd.in/gMQpxS6e

On behalf of PRC, CEO Chuan Teng shares the following with our incredible community of supporters as we all take time to reflect on what's important in life and spend time with loved ones in coming days and weeks. "For the past several years, I’ve been working on a gratitude practice, taking pause to express appreciation for whatever strikes me in the moment. Sometimes it’s a person, an experience, or a simple thought. Often I appreciate my family, and frequently, I appreciate PRC. I’ve come to perceive PRC as a collection of truths that a dedicated community of people work to realize every day: We are better together. We are united in our values. The support we offer each other makes us all stronger. We serve a greater mission outside of ourselves. We are all human. As our world evolves, I center myself on these truths. And this season, I am appreciating you, our community, for giving life to these truths. Thank you for keeping at it, doing great work, and making a difference every day." #PRC #WeMovePeopleForward
