🌱 Celebrating Growth and a New Chapter for Project Zero’s Green Jobs Internship Program 🌱 We recently marked an incredible milestone with the culmination of our 2024 Project Zero cohort—and shared a very exciting announcement. Over the past five years, Project Zero has empowered 64 young adults with hands-on green career experience, professional coaching, and support services addressing housing, food access, and transportation needs. Thanks to partnerships with 43 community organizations, nearly half of these interns are now thriving in full-time green jobs. 🌍 As we celebrate this success, we’re thrilled to announce the next chapter for Project Zero. To meet the growing demand from local youth, we’ve proudly partnered with the POIC, a leader in workforce development, to transfer ownership of this transformative program. Together, we’re ensuring a stronger future for Oregon’s youth and our clean energy workforce. Here’s to the incredible work ahead! 💚 https://lnkd.in/egX9ucP4 #GreenJobs #Sustainability #YouthEmpowerment #WorkforceDevelopment

“In its first ten months, Clearwater Wind Energy Center has already set new records for PGE! 🌬️💡 This groundbreaking project helped us reach a major milestone: producing one gigawatt of power from wind sources alone. That’s enough electricity to power 830,000 homes—nearly half of Oregon’s households. Located in Eastern Montana, Clearwater adds 311 megawatts of renewable energy to our portfolio, advancing our clean energy goals and strengthening our commitment to a carbon-free future. Exciting news! We’re proud to share that PGE, representing the Oregon Clean Energy Workforce Coalition, has been selected as one of six U.S. regions to receive $750,000 in funding from JFF’s Quality Green Jobs Regional Challenge, with support from the Ares Charitable Foundation’s CREST initiative. Through collaborations with community-based organizations, this grant will create pathways for thousands of workers into the clean energy sector and build a resilient, inclusive economy. Here’s to empowering our communities with green skills for a sustainable future! #GreenJobs #CleanEnergy #CommunityEmpowerment #SustainableEconomy

Exciting progress in fish recovery! Together with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Oregon, we celebrate a record return of over 250 adult steelhead at the Pelton Round Butte hydroelectric project – the largest since the dams were built in the 1960s. These early returns not only demonstrate the success of our collaborative efforts but also give us hope for a thriving steelhead population in the Deschutes River. Thanks to initiatives like selective water withdrawal, advanced fish tracking, and in-stream acclimation, we’re making strides toward reintroducing anadromous fish to the Deschutes Basin. We believe in the power of community and global collaboration to tackle the climate crisis. Recently, our Project Zero interns joined forces with international visitors from 15 African nations and Haiti for a day of volunteerism at Parkrose Community Orchard and WeShine Village in Portland. 🌱🍎 Organized with WorldOregon as part of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, the event offered hands-on experience in sustainability and environmental stewardship. Participants learned, connected, and reflected on the urgent need for global collaboration to fight climate change. 🌿🌎

As we face more extreme weather and rising energy demands, customer participation in demand response programs is proving to be a game-changer for grid reliability across the nation. By adjusting thermostats or shifting energy use at critical times, customers are helping to ensure a stable energy supply—making them key partners in building a more resilient, modern grid. When utilities and customers work together, we can create a cleaner, more reliable energy future where everyone plays a crucial role in keeping the lights on and the power flowing. https://lnkd.in/gAkGwdyH

Extreme weather events are putting more pressure on the grid than ever before. This summer, heat waves pushed demand to new highs, but thanks to renewable energy, battery storage, and regional collaboration, the grid held strong. At PGE, modernizing the grid is a necessity. We’re committed to investing in renewable energy, storage, and transmission to keep the power reliable for our customers while transitioning to clean energy. Together, we’re building a more resilient and sustainable energy future. #RenewableEnergy #Grid #Transmission
In recent summers, Texas and California experienced rolling blackouts, or came close, as temperatures rose. This year, solar power and giant batteries helped keep the lights on.

Today we're marking National Hydropower Day by celebrating the 100th Anniversary of our Oak Grove Powerhouse on the Clackamas River. Over the course of a century, Oak Grove has provided power for homes and businesses as the Portland area developed into the metropolitan center it is today. #Hydropower
