A fake airport terminal is testing the real technology that will be used at JFK International Airport's New Terminal One (expected to open in 2026). This will include cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence and new check-in, baggage handling, and plane docking systems. “In order to guarantee a seamless passenger experience, all these airport systems need to work together like an orchestra. What we’re doing here is rehearsing that music,” said Ricardo Pinillos, the airport systems lead for the New Terminal One. Six new minority- and women-owned retail spaces just opened at JFK Airport's Terminal 8! These shops, where you can find products like juice, snacks, home goods, skincare, gifts, and more, were selected through a small business accelerator program that lowers barriers-to-entry for local businesses and entrepreneurs. “As the Port Authority develops world-class airports around the region, we are working with our private partners to ensure that local businesses are able to share in these historic investments,” said Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole. “Helping local businesses access concessions opportunities at Terminal 8 is an asset for our passengers, who will enjoy products unique to New York that are made and sold by local artisans and vendors.” Learn more: https://ow.ly/FokL50UuxRw #ShopLocal #Airport #SmallBusiness

We are renaming and dedicating the LaGuardia Career Center in Corona, Queens, to Assemblyman Jeffrion L. Aubry, in honor of his more than three decades of public service and his commitment to creating economic opportunities for Queens residents during the redevelopment of LaGuardia Airport. “Assemblyman Aubry has been an important partner in our work and a staunch advocate for a project that many people said could never be done – transforming LaGuardia Airport from the nation’s worst airport to what is now the nation’s best airport,” said Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton. “The Assemblyman has also been an advocate for the people of Queens, constantly emphasizing the need to ensure that the community most impacted by the airport will also realize the opportunities a new, world-class airport can provide.” To date, the center has placed more than 2,700 people (including more than 1,700 Queens residents) in jobs since opening in 2019. We're delivering infrastructure improvements to the PATH Train system, including 72 new rail cars that increase ridership capacity. A car maintenance team of about 230 electricians, mechanics, and other staff is responsible for the safety and reliability of the fifth-busiest rapid transit system in the US. “We are the PATH team you don’t see,” said PATH Car Equipment Division Assistant Superintendent Ian Mitchell. “Our teams work mostly behind the scenes. More cars mean more availability, more capacity. We are reducing the length of time passengers need to wait for their next train, and we hear from our customers they are happy with the move.” Head to our Now Arriving blog to learn more: https://ow.ly/Q83i50UqRB9 #Commuter #Transit #Infrastructure

Our annual Wings for All event helps prepare individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families for air travel. We partnered with The Arc of Essex County, The Arc of New Jersey, United Airlines, and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to host a run-through of the airport experience, including a simulated security screening, terminal walkthrough, and boarding process. Participants also had the opportunity to explore the pre-security sensory room at Newark Liberty's Terminal A, which was developed in partnership with the Anderson Center for Autism to be a calming space for neurodivergent travelers in need of respite. "I know firsthand how important it is to create an environment that is welcoming and accommodating to everyone, especially families like mine who are traveling with an individual with IDD," said Port Authority vice Chair Jeffrey Lynford. "This event helps ensure that we are doing everything we can to make air travel a positive experience for all families, regardless of their needs."
