Polygence reposted this
In my free time, I've been helping students write review papers, execute independent research projects, and learn about what cool science is out there as a mentor with Polygence. I'm excited to announce that I'll be leading my first 6-week pod program about neurodivergence and mental health. If you know of any high school students who would be interested in learning more about this, feel free to send and have them enroll! I would love to work with them. https://lnkd.in/gu8eaJD2

We’re so amazed by the topics students choose to explore with their Polygence mentors and are excited to play a part in fostering the next generation of change makers! Polygence student, Natepy Vann, is an example of just how much high school students can achieve. Check out her research project entitled, “Advancing Sex Education and Health Outcomes: The Impacts of Education and Support Programs in Cambodia” below!
Co-founder of Power of Sisters | Co-founder of Together | Algoverse's 2024 Spring Al Fundamentals Bootcamp | Healthcare research at Polygence
After the past 10 weeks in the Polygence program, I want to share my first independent research project, “Advancing Sex Education and Health Outcomes: The Impacts of Education and Support Programs in Cambodia.” In this paper, I uncovered the realities that many Cambodian female teenagers face regarding their sexual health and lifestyle choices. The findings were more than expected, revealing challenges beyond traditional expectations for these young women. Throughout my literature review, I was deeply moved by the constraints these girls encounter in my home country. Many feel they have limited choices. I believe this is an ongoing problem that needs an urgent solution. This research hasn’t only highlighted these issues but also helped me clarify my passion for empowering women. I am determined to use tech to advocate for social issues, especially for better sex education and support programs that can create positive changes in their lives. Our students are already benefitting from looking at the growth they achieve through their Independent Research project in new ways. Thank you Mastery Transcript Consortium® (MTC) for all you do to advance mastery-based learning. We're thrilled to be a part of it!
"In order to fully take advantage of the permission to find themselves rather than to conform to narrowly defined molds, students need to be freed from the constant fear of being judged." Our partner, Polygence, was recently featured in this Forbes article describing the launch of the Polygence Certified MTC Learning Record and how it contributes to their goals of mastery-based assessment. At Polygence, we believe in thinking expansively and divergently about intelligence. We think there is tremendous value in giving students permission to explore their intellectual passions in whatever form speaks to them. Research is not a one-size-fits-all glove. In a recent article, our cofounder Jin Yun Chow summarizes insights from our recent webinar with Jennifer Breheny Wallace, how we think about intelligence, what research actually is and its role in education, and why we're so excited about our new partnership with Mastery Transcript Consortium® (MTC). #research #multipleintelligence https://lnkd.in/dXU3mNXN

Last week, our team member Dr. George Philip LeBourdais had an important conversation with Jennifer Breheny Wallace about her best-selling book "Never Enough: When Achievement Culture Becomes Toxic And What We Can Do about It." They discussed crucial issues for this generation of young people, from the pernicious effects of the pressure to succeed and alternative ways of finding meaning in the world. Read the newsletter summary below or watch the full conversation on youtube: https://lnkd.in/gW9JpS6m https://lnkd.in/gis7yMi9
It was my immense pleasure to speak with Jennifer Breheny Wallace for Polygence spring webinar series this week. Her message of curbing achievement pressure and creating a sense of purpose through the #Mattering Movement is something all #parents and #educators should hear.
