  • For anyone new to the page/channel, Plug & Play EV has a few distinct arms. These are: 1) YouTube Channel - A passion project/side hustle that took on a life of its own, dedicated to sharing all-electric road trips, EV buyer advice, and topics adjacent to electric transportation. 2) Coast-to-Coast EVs - A bi-weekly show with fellow EV obsessives Walter H. Schulze III and Eric Way, as well as guests (often from the EV charging space). This is streamed live on the Plug & Play EV channel but is also available in podcast form the day after streaming. 3) Consulting - Our most recent development, fusing the B2B marketing career of founder Steve Birkett to content consulting for businesses in the EV and broader electrification space. The links below will guide you to the best starting points for each of these arms. Or, if you have questions, don't hesitate to drop them in the comments below or message Steve directly. #ElectricVehicles #Electrification #ContentMarketing

  • Is the price of DC fast charging an important part of EV ownership or overblown, given how much charging can happen at home, work, or other AC destinations? Our first video of 2025 was only intended to share some average DCFC prices as a baseline. It actually stoked an intriguing comment stream on the importance of fast charging, ranging from "it doesn't matter to me" to "pure thievery!" If nothing else, the reaction reinforces our belief that it will be more important than ever to cover AC charging initiatives such as workplace L2, new curbside charging pilots, and California's "EV Ready" requirements for residential builds from next year. The more EV owners can simply charge where they park for standard power rates, the more convenient and cost-effective driving an electric vehicle will be. Does the price of DC charging impact your EV ownership? #evcharging #electricvehicles 🎬 Video linked in comments 👇

  • Lots to like about the user experience with the new FLO EV Charging Ultra stations, which are starting to pop up around the Northeast, Pacific Northwest, and Canada where the company is based. The activation time is the quickest we've seen from any tap-to-pay system, up and running in 15-20 seconds. The UI is also clear and responsive, with a lot of info packed into a responsive, medium-sized display. Some thoughtful additions to the usual info include: ⚡ Maximum power level achieved during session. 🚘 Power the EV is requesting vs. what the station is currently able to deliver. 📉 Prompt at 80% to consider unplugging as charging power is decreasing. 🛑 Separate displays for each handle to avoid accidental session stops that can occur when two sessions are managed via one screen. The motorized cable management system definitely relieves some of the effort involved in plugging in, potential improving accessibility, but it could add a point of failure as well. Time will have to tell how it holds up to driver wear and tear. Overall, it's a pleasure to use and a welcome addition to the charging landscape in North America. • Rivian has been on an opening spree in December, passing the 💯 mark with its Adventure Network (RAN) locations. That includes adding 10 next-generation/RAN 1.5 stations open to non-Rivian models across eight states. If you're traveling to these areas for the holidays -- or live in the area and are simply curious -- here's where any CCS1-capable EV can plug into a RAN dispenser: - California: Joshua Tree Charging Outpost (I-10/Rt. 62) - Colorado: Del Norte (Rt. 160) and Flagler (I-70) - Illinois: Normal (I-55/I-39) - Michigan: Lansing (I-96) - Montana: Bozeman (I-90) and Gardiner (Rt. 89) - New York: Queensbury (I-87 + shown in video) - Pennsylvania: Erie (I-90) - Texas: Cisco (I-20) (Thanks to Payton Bishop for providing updates - links below - on the Del Norte and Normal site builds, including a gloriously festive shot with "RIVIAN" etched into the Colorado snow!) Full video of our charging experience in New York (including pull-through, just because!) in the video linked below. #rivian #rivianadventurenetwork #evcharging

  • To close out a big year for EV infrastructure in the US and Canada, we're compiling snapshots of fast charging vendors big and small. ⚡ 📍 If you're not already there, check out the "EV Infrastructure - North America" group --🔗 in comments -- here on Linkedin to be the first to see those updates. Video summaries and comparisons will follow on our YouTube channel and other outposts shortly after. 2025 is shaping up to be a BIG year for EVI, so let's see how the various players are positioning to make their stations the go-to option for discerning EV drivers... #evcharging #evinfrastructure #dcfcdata

  • Site reports from both sides of the continent in our latest video, with a tour of the first ROVE Charging destination in Santa Ana, California and a furtive eye cast over a new bp pulse Gigahub taking shape here in Boston, MA ⚡⚡⚡ But what does it take to be considered a fully-fledged "charging hub"? We run through other examples and ask viewers to contribute their thoughts. And for all of the intriguing new takes on charging spreading across the US and Canada, there's still nothing quite like the Gridserve EV centers encountered in the UK. Who will be first to make that happen over here... and do we even need them? #evcharging #evhubs #evinfrastructure 📺 linked👇

  • Somewhere between one-quarter to one-third of U.S. housing stock falls into the multi-family dwelling (MFD) category, with trends since 2008 leading recent generations to drive new housing inventory in this direction. In transportation terms, this means a lot of residents who might have a parking space but not a dedicated driveway or garage. In turn, this makes one of the core advantages of owning an EV a challenge that Join us this Wednesday* to discuss overcoming that hurdle to increased EV adoption with Joseph Nagle of Pando Electric, whose product suite carries the potential to flip the MFD EV ownership issue on its head. *Link in comments for live stream #ushousing #electricvehicles #evcharging 📈 - Construction Coverage

  • Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! In addition to appreciation for all of the EV travelers and enthusiasts who watch the channel, my family is especially grateful for all of the networks, contractors, and local authorities that blazed a charging trail to make our early EV travel possible. Since 2017, we've visited more than two-thirds of the United States with three electric vehicles: 2 x Chevy Bolt EV leases (2017 and 2020 MY) and our current daily driver, a 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 (purchased). North Dakota remains the one outlier to the north, with a long stretch of southern states (and Canadian provinces) still to explore in the years ahead. Most of these trips are knocking around on the channel, but a few playlists are linked in the comments for anyone who's recently stumbled across Plug & Play EV and wants to see how all-electric road trips have evolved. From our family to yours, wishing you a restful Thanksgiving with safe travels and seamless charging!
