Three years ago, Bruce Marcey discovered SongwritingWith:Soldiers (SW:S) through a performance in Austin. Bruce's inaugural fund-raising effort, culminating in his now signature holiday party raised just under $20K and the next year almost doubled the original donation. Last week, with a lot of corporate support and a couple of anonymous donations, they were able to raise $81,125, exceeding their goal to support fully a $50,000 Songwriting With: Soldiers retreat! In addition to our tremendous gratitude and huge kudos to Bruce, we want to thank event coordinators Matt Ehrhardt and Jeff Knodel; Wes Jackson for leading the group in the singing of "O Holy Night," in honor of Bruce's mother; and for all the generous donations and party attendees. The AFCEA DC Winter Gala, in its 48th year, will take place tonight at the historic National Building Museum in DC. The Winter Gala remains the premier networking event for senior-level DoD and Federal IT leaders, Military Flag Officers, and the industry executives who support them. This year it will be a STUNNING display of a “Fire and Ice” formal theme with lots of recognition for your company to thousands of people for sponsorship involvement. Your sponsorship will help us achieve incredible outcomes for the DC community. Last year, we had over 1,700 attendees from more than 50 federal, defense, and national security agencies, nearly $250,000 raised for STEM Scholarship programs through the support of close to 100 companies, and more than 6,000 toys donated to the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program for local children in need.
