It’s Twixmas and you don’t know what day it is. But, you’re starting to think about 2025. So here’s 5 easy tips: 1️⃣ Get ahead of 2025 standard changes. When standards change, clients always have a last-minute panic to meet deadlines. Save yourself the stress. Look at any upcoming changes to the standards that affect your business and set clear internal deadlines to address them. 2️⃣ Double-check upcoming ISO standard transitions. Similar to point 2, there are some big transitions coming in 2025 (e.g. 27001 final transition deadline: October 2025). Since everyone will need to meet these new standards, get your audit booked in well before the deadline so you’re not competing with everyone who left it to the last minute. 3️⃣ Book in a pre-assessment day. They’re an optional, client-led dry run before your actual stage 1 and stage 2 audits. It helps you to understand exactly how the audit process works, reduce anxiety and build rapport with your auditor. And because pre-assessments are always virtual, they save time, money and effort. 4️⃣ Update your internal audit schedule. They’re the backbone of your compliance program so use this quiet period to review your audit plan, build in flexibility and close out old nonconformities. Getting this right now will save you scrambling when external auditors come knocking later in 2025. 5️⃣ Should you transfer certification bodies? A lot of compliance professionals tolerate poor customer service from certification bodies because they’re worried about the hassle of transferring. But the truth is: There’s no lapse in your certification, it’s free and PJR will do all the admin for you. So don’t put up with a bad CB - transferring is easier than you think. The biggest myths behind not moving certification bodies: 1. “Our certification will lapse and we’ll have to start again.” 2. “It will cost money.” 3. “It will take a lot of time.” 4. “It will take a lot of effort.” But they’re all wrong. The truth is: 1. There is NO lapse in your certification and we pick up where you left off. 2. We charge exactly £0. 3. PJR does the whole process for you, so it takes none of your time. 4. We do all the back office admin to transfer. So you need to ask yourself: Are you overpaying? Are you getting value for money? Are you happy with the customer service? If you didn’t like your answers to those questions, then what’s holding you back from transferring? Because we do all the work for you, all you need is: ➤ Your last audit reports up to initial or recertification ➤ A copy of your certificates ➤ Are there any current customer complaints? ➤ Is there’s any legal action going against regulatory bodies ? ➤ A copy of your interaction of processes. This might ruffle some feathers, but it’s New Years: Is it the auditor or certification body that clients care about? Because I think clients build relationships, rapport and trust with auditors, not certification bodies. The who: - Add value. - Look for conformity. - DON'T seek non-conformances. Mind you, that’s not what UKAS say an auditor should do. They say an auditor should be to the point, direct and not focus on building client relationships. But I think those relationships are one of the most important parts of the process. Because your ally and parter shouldn’t have non-conformance targets. They should be going in with an impartial but positive and friendly attitude. It’s what we try to do at PJR, and it’s the reason clients cite for sticking around. Tomorrow, I’d like to spotlight those champions - the auditors. Happy New Year and here’s to a smashing 2025!
