About us

Founded in 1951 as Central Suffolk Hospital, Peconic Bay Medical Center is the largest hospital in eastern Suffolk County, and the Eastern Hub of Northwell Health, the largest healthcare organization in New York State. As a not-for-profit 200-bed community hospital, we serve as the primary resource for advanced healthcare services for the 250,000+ residents of the Riverhead area, eastern central Suffolk County, and Long Island's North Fork. We provide our service area's only Interventional Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Suite, Level III Trauma Center, and NYS-Designated Stroke Center. In addition to a network of community-based primary care and specialist physician offices, we also operate a 60-bed 5-star-rated skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, Suffolk County's largest certified home health agency, and a community-based ambulatory and urgent care campus in Manorville, NY. We also host and sponsor well-regarded internship and residency programs as a major clinical campus for the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Long Island's largest JRCERT-accredited school of radiologic technology, affiliated with SUNY Empire State College.

  • Long Island’s first hospital-based resource and support center for family caregivers, the Peconic Bay Medical Center Caregivers Center was founded thanks to the generous support of community member Judith Jedlicka under the auspices of Tara Anglim, EdD, LCSW, ACHP-SW of Peconic Bay Medical Center. Marja Ames talks here about the essential support she receives from our Caregivers Center, improving her health and her ability to care for her aging mother. Watch this CBS segment to learn more.

  • We are proud to celebrate our nurses, and Michael Cunningham, shown here with our Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President for Patient Care Services Chris Kippley, is a phenomenal example of our extraordinary team members. When Michael pursued his nursing degree, he chose to attend a program with a holistic nursing certification. Michael has additional training in attending to every aspect of a patient's well-being: physical, emotional, and spiritual. As we continually strive for nursing excellence, nurses like Michael deliver the extraordinary care our extraordinary community deserves.

  • Yesterday, in honor of National Family Caregivers Month, we hosted our 10th Annual Caregivers Conference, welcoming over 100 dedicated local caregivers. This special event offered essential resources, expert advice, and community connections to those providing care for loved ones facing health challenges. With inspiring insights from keynote speaker Dr. Sandeep Jauhar and panel discussions led by experts, caregivers were able to explore vital support options, self-care practices, and advocacy resources designed to ease the caregiving journey. A huge thank you to our sponsors for making this event possible. Learn more about the Caregivers Center and its resources at https://lnkd.in/eJvBxNPM.
