This is kind of a long post, but an important one for 2025. In 2024 we witnessed - and some of us experienced - the explosion of #AI into the mainstream. We have heard lots of questions about the ethics of AI use and data-gathering, the practical applications, and how it can help #fundraising, the #jobs market, assist writing and headline creation, summarizing long articles, and much more. At our #Goalmakers2024 15th Annual Conference, AI was center stage for many conversations, and attendees were rapt and asked lots of questions. One point that was voiced is 👉 it is imperative that we embrace AI usage so that we can be at the forefront of its use and therefore can influence policy and how AI is integrated into our lives, business, and programs. So, ready to join the journey?! We are fortunate that in our (Pacific Northwest) backyard we have a member who is also paving the way and is offering incredible #free resources. Yep, that member is Microsoft. And they have an incredible library of resources and put on free workshops specifically targeted for #nonprofits. START here: https://lnkd.in/gRyE3MHc OR dive into resources specific to nonprofits here: AI Skills for Nonprofits Collection: https://lnkd.in/gbn-Ss9J We will be undoubtedly talking more about AI and its practical uses throughout the year, and we look forward to reporting on how our members are leveraging AI. Start your #fundraising this year off with some fresh insights! From NonProfit PRO 5 Philanthropic Factors to Inform Your Fundraising Strategy INTRO When it comes to fundraising, it can be easy to fall into the same patterns of what has always worked for your nonprofit. However, it’s crucial to also stay up to date with trends in philanthropy that can guide your fundraising. In his closing keynote session at NonProfit POWER, “Current Trends in Fundraising,” Erik Daubert, nonprofit management specialist at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University, highlighted some of the current key factors in charitable giving, and how nonprofits should leverage these opportunities. Factor # 4: Donor-Advised Funds Are Growing One key trend that has seen a significant uptick over the past several years is the use of donor-advised funds (DAFs), which Daubert likened to a regular person setting up a mini foundation. Per 2023 data from the National Philanthropic Trust, private foundations had assets worth $1.48 trillion while DAFs had $251.52 billion — just under 20% of foundations’ total assets. https://lnkd.in/gungABJ6 #fundraisingstrategies #philanthropy #philanthropytrends

Donor-Advised Funds Offer Opportunity This Giving Season A thoughtful and revealing post by Jennifer Butte-Dahl and Pamela Passman from our member APCO. INTRO: It’s giving season and in the last weeks of the year, opportunities abound for nonprofits, funders, and individual donors alike. Approximately 31% of all annual giving occurs in December, with 12% taking place in the final three days of the year. And the total amount of giving in December is considerable, with approximately 28% of non-profits raising half of their annual funding this month. The key is to act quickly! While individual giving has been on a downward trend in recent years, giving through donor-advised funds, or DAFs, is gaining momentum. The latest numbers put the total DAF treasure chest at $251 billion. In 2023 alone, more than $59 billion were deposited in DAFs, according to the National Philanthropic Trust. In a nutshell, a DAF is a bank account for philanthropic dollars. It can accommodate any form of funds, including stocks and other assets.
