Executive Director & Founder of Evolving Minds | National Speaker at Active Minds & Weave of the Aspen Institute
This year Evolving Minds made our debut in philanthropy. We faced twenty rejections before our first breakthrough. It was the first time in four years that I contemplated giving up. It was the first time that I seriously considered leaving the nonprofit sector. It was the first time that I questioned the validity of our mission. It was a soul crushing year. Then, just weeks ago, a glimmer of hope. We got accepted into the Social Innovation Lab at Johns Hopkins University! I want to give a big shoutout to everyone who has supported me over the years and continues to believe in Evolving Minds’ mission – creating a culture of care. If you want to stay connected and receive weekly updates on Evolving Minds, join our online community on Patreon (for free!). Every Friday at 12pm EST, you’ll get some good news delivered to your inbox. Join here: https://lnkd.in/e3xTFaqb P.S. What can you expect from Evolving Minds in early 2025? We’re launching: •An advisory board to further establish ourselves as industry leaders in the emerging fields of mental health and social connection in the workplace. •Our first advocacy campaign #ReimagineWork. The goal is to humanize Essential and Frontline workers, advocate for workplace mental health, and promote work environments where all employees are valued as whole people. •A resource hub on our website with online videos and downloadable resources for building healthy work cultures

What are you curious about? I try to always notice when and how people work together to make big things happen, but also how they tackle everyday goals. I'm fascinated by how institutions work: the way they're set up, the unconscious rules that members follow, how they're perceived by members and outsiders. I'm also curious about how diversity of thought, experience, and background plays a role in creating strong, dynamic teams and positive outcomes. — Anna Taylor We're excited to announce Anna has joined the Evolving Minds Board of Directors. As Executive Director of The Greater Sum Foundation, Anna brings deep expertise in nonprofit innovation, leadership development, and sector collaboration to our organization. With Anna, Patricia, and Amanda, our three newest board members, 2025 is looking bright!

Where do you see goodness in the world? Family, friends, neighbors, and strangers have instilled a fundamental optimism in me from a young age. I see goodness in the stories I tell personally and professionally, where people try their hardest to love themselves and each other. I believe that everything we do now connects to the paths that those before us have laid, and I find hope in co-creating a little more of that path for the generations to come. — Amanda Liaw We're thrilled to share that Amanda has joined the Board of Directors at Evolving Minds. As Communications and Marketing Director at Spur Local, Amanda brings extensive experience in nonprofit marketing, digital fundraising, and organizational development to our organization. At Spur Local, she has helped drive initiatives that have supported a network of over 400 local nonprofits in strengthening their fundraising, marketing, and leadership capabilities. Please join us in welcoming Amanda to our team!

Where do I see goodness in the world? It’s everywhere if you’re looking for it. Darkness is always easy to find, but when we choose to notice and spread goodness, it shows up in the smallest, most meaningful ways—and I try to embrace it every day. Walking my two daughters to school, we’re greeted by Mr. Joe, our kind crossing guard, who never misses a chance to high-five us and wish us a great day. At my coffee stop, I chat with Rose, my favorite barista, about everything from the weather to her college classes. On my long commute to work, I remind myself to be grateful—grateful for my job, for friends I can call to pass the time, or for a podcast that sparks my curiosity. For me, connecting with others—listening to their stories and sharing moments—reveals the quiet, everyday goodness all around us. – Patricia Granata Eisner We're delighted to announce Patricia has joined the Board of Directors at Evolving Minds. As Senior Director of Development at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, Patricia brings extensive experience in leading development strategy to our organization. Stay tuned for two more exciting Board of Directors announcements!

How can we address burnout and loneliness in nonprofits when 50% of organizations report burnout and 57% of nonprofit workers feel lonely? Elizabeth Brown from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation wrote a compelling blog post for the Center for Effective Philanthropy, where she emphasized the importance of adopting a "mental health mindset" to address the workplace mental health crisis plaguing so many organizations. By prioritizing mental health programs, operational support, and leadership development, funders and nonprofits can work together to build healthy workplaces where nonprofit staff feel valued and supported. We couldn’t agree more—everyone, including our nonprofit professionals, deserves a healthy workplace! Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/efEjg73n
