Today, we are pleased to announce that JAMA Psychiatry published the results of Otsuka and Lundbeck's Phase 3 trial of brexpiprazole in combination with sertraline in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Adults. The results show that treatment with brexpiprazole in combination with sertraline resulted in statistically significant greater improvement of PTSD symptoms vs treatment with sertraline and placebo, as measured by change in Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale for DSM-5 (CAPS-5) total score from week 1 (randomization) to week 10. PTSD is one of the most common mental health disorders in the United States, with approximately five percent of the population affected during a given year. Most patients (>80%) with PTSD in the United States are in the civilian population. It can occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event, a series of events or a set of circumstances.   We will not rest until mental illnesses and brain diseases are approached with the same priority and urgency as our physical health.   Learn more here: https://bit.ly/3ZHbtbI #DefyLimitation

We’re proud to share moments of Barbara Corcoran speaking about her family’s story at the Pennsylvania Conference for Women event in November. In support of the I Wish I Knew campaign to raise awareness for agitation in Alzheimer's dementia, Barbara spoke of her family’s difficult journey in hopes that others will benefit from what she wishes she knew when her own mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and was showing symptoms of agitation in Alzheimer’s dementia. The I Wish I Knew campaign is aimed at helping over 11 million family caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s dementia better understand the signs and symptoms of agitation in Alzheimer’s dementia, a separate condition that nearly half of people living with Alzheimer’s dementia show signs of but that many people don’t know exists. In honor of this #GivingTuesday, we’re reflecting on the Otsuka Volunteer Trip to the Blackfeet Nation Reservation in Montana earlier this year. Otsuka-people had the opportunity to immerse themselves within daily life on the reservation and further support this community impacted by social determinants of health that have led to disproportionately higher rates of mental illness and chronic disease. It left each volunteer with a new perspective of giving, and built lifelong relationships with their colleagues.
