OHA has set the most ambitious goal of any health agency in the nation: to eliminate health inequities by 2030. We know it’s achievable, but it will require determination and collaboration. Under the leadership of Dr. Sejal Hathi, OHA is proud to launch Oregon Health Forward – the vision and alliance of three efforts that will help us achieve our health equity goal, while at the same time mobilizing partners and strengthening our own ability to meet commitments and deliver services. Dr. Hathi recently sat down with the Portland Business Journal to walk through Oregon Health Forward. The OHA Strategic Plan sets the stage – it outlines our health equity goal and the strategies we’ll use to get us there – things like ensuring people have access to affordable care, increasing access to and expanding behavioral health services, and improving access to preventive health services and safe and affordable housing. Next is a statewide Call to Action where we call on public and private partners of all sizes, across all sectors, to make commitments that advance shared progress toward eliminating health inequities. For OHA to have an impact that is lasting, to bend the arc sustainably toward health equity, we must harness our collective power as a society — and reach across sectors, build new partnerships, and bridge silos. Commitments can range from in-kind donations and bold philanthropic contributions to new product development, service-line expansions, and institution-level policy changes. And third, we recognize that we must continually evolve our organizational capabilities if we are going to meet our obligations and keep our promise to advance progress toward our health equity goal. Feedback from system and community partners, as well as OHA staff, have revealed three important areas of opportunity and growth for the agency: increasing transparency, improving accountability, and strengthening belonging. So we’ve launched the Transparency, Accountability, and Belonging Initiative (TABI), which includes two dozen projects aimed at those three goals. The alliance of these three efforts will ultimately enable OHA to achieve its goal of eliminating health inequities, while at the same time mobilizing partners and strengthening the agency’s ability to deliver services by improving operations and supporting staff. Vision: A Healthy Oregon
About us
Vision: A Healthy Oregon Core Values: Service Excellence, Leadership, Integrity, Partnership, Innovation and Health Equity Our Mission: Helping people and communities achieve optimum physical, mental and social well-being through partnerships, prevention and access to quality, affordable health care. About the Oregon Health Authority: The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is at the forefront of lowering and containing costs, improving quality and increasing access to health care in order to improve the lifelong health of Oregonians. OHA is overseen by the nine-member citizen Oregon Health Policy Board (http://www.oregon.gov/oha/OHPB/) which is working toward comprehensive health and health care reform in the state. OHA includes most of the state's health care programs, including Public Health, Health Policy and Analytics, Health Systems Division, and Oregon State Hospital. Incorporating the state's health care programs within one agency gives the state greater purchasing and marketing power to begin tackling the issues of cost, quality, and access to care. We are absolutely committed to ongoing innovation in the delivery of services, and to recruiting, developing and retaining dedicated employees. The Oregon Health Authority strives to create inclusive environments that welcome and value the diversity of the people we serve. OHA fosters fairness, equity, and inclusion to create workplace environments where everyone is treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, color, religion, sex, disability, physical stature, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, political affiliation and any other factor applicable by state or federal law.

Incredibly proud of this team and this state that continues to push our coverage rate ever higher -- now, to the highest recorded rate in state history and among the highest in the country. Still, we know that coverage doesn't always equal access, and the work continues to improve the affordability and accessibility of care. https://lnkd.in/dHjp9y_D
