The business will play a crucial role in supporting the deployment of the U.S. government’s Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program which dedicates $42.5 billion to expand high speed internet access, particularly in rural areas. Orbia Dura-Line products have been made in America since 1971 and are compliant with the Build America, Buy America (BABA) Act, which prioritizes domestic manufacturing and procurement of products and components. In 2022, Orbia launched the world’s first carbon credit program for drip irrigation at the La Fagiana farm in Italy. When the farm switched to drip irrigation, it found that it used 70% less water while reducing methane emissions to nearly zero. Take a look inside the launch of a Better Life Farming Center in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. Better Life Farming Centers are created by Bayer, alongside Orbia’s Precision Agriculture business Netafim and the IFC - International Finance Corporation. The centers aim to empower smallholder farmers in developing countries by providing them with access to essential tools, technology and education. The new center in Madhya Pradesh is expected to positively impact around 500 families by increasing yields and improving crop quality. The launch from earlier this year was attended by several Orbia Netafim representatives including VP and Chief Agronomist Dubi Raz, State Manager Madhya Pradesh Narendra Dhandre as well as representatives from Bayer. Orbia Fluor & Energy Materials' R&D team has screened hundreds of different molecules in its quest to create a propellant for metered dose inhalers (MDIs) that has a low global warming potential (GWP) and reduced carbon footprint. The research paid off with the development of Zephex® 152a, a new propellant with over 90% less GWP than its predecessors. Now, the team is working with major pharmaceutical customers to ensure the new propellant can be used commercially in new MDIs.
