About us

At OptaZoom.com we envisioned a one stop shopping experience where an ECP can have access to the entire eye care industry with the click of a button. Well, we haven’t gotten the entire eye care industry on board yet. However, with over 50 companies ranging from frames, cases, supplies and just over 40,000 different items to choose from, we at OptaZoom.com are simplifying the buying experience for ECPs across the United States and we hope to do the same for you.

  • Big news for optometrists. The reform bill (S141) has been signed into law, following a report by the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs. This legislation is a game-changer, as it includes optometry in the physician pay scale, acknowledging the vital role optometrists play in providing eye and vision care to veterans. The bill aims to tackle the mass exodus of highly qualified optometrists from the VA, which was largely due to outdated pay scales. This new law should help attract and retain top-tier talent, ensuring veterans receive the best possible care. The American Optometric Association has been instrumental in pushing this legislation forward, and their efforts have finally paid off. This is a significant win for optometrists and veterans alike. #optometry Source: House Committee on Veterans' Affairs GOP

We recently received a fantastic question from one of our customers: "Why didn't OptaZoom use Shopify as its e-commerce platform?" This is a super great question, especially since Shopify is a top e-commerce platform, particularly for apparel and merch businesses. As we built OptaZoom, we indeed considered various e-commerce platforms, including Shopify. While Shopify is a popular and powerful platform, we decided against using it for several reasons that benefit our customers - private practice owners like you. 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 Shopify's theme architecture and checkout process limitations would have restricted our ability to tailor OptaZoom to the unique needs of eye care professionals. By building our own platform, we could customize every aspect to serve you better. 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 Shopify's traffic limits, product variant limits, and inventory management limitations would have hindered our ability to support growing practices with complex product offerings. Our platform is designed to scale with your practice, handling large product catalogs and high traffic volumes with ease. 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 By not using Shopify, we avoid transaction fees, app costs, and plan limitations that would have increased costs for our customers. Instead, we pass these savings on to you, providing a more affordable and sustainable solution for your practice. 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 Shopify's limitations in supporting complex product types, B2B e-commerce, and non-standard payment methods would have required us to compromise on features or rely on third-party apps. By building our own platform, we can provide tailored features, support, and guidance specifically designed for ECPs. At OptaZoom, we're committed to providing a platform that truly serves the unique needs of private practice owners like you. By choosing not to use Shopify, we can offer a more customized, scalable, and cost-effective solution that helps you succeed. Tim Abarta CTO, OptaZoom
