  • This year, we’ve highlighted the impact of the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) — and for good reason. IDA is one of the most effective tools for driving global development. Investing in IDA is a catalyst for growth, partnership, and global stability and security. It is also an investment in the future: 35 countries have moved from IDA recipients to donors, proving that with the right investment, countries can become self-sufficient and support others to do the same.  This month, global leaders and partners invested in our collective future by securing a $100 billion replenishment for IDA. Below is a closer look at what that means. ⬇️ #IDA21

  • The G20 sounds like a secretive superhero league shaping the planet’s future. And their decisions do impact everything — from grocery prices to global emissions, and in that way, they are kind of like a justice league. But here’s what’s exciting: this month, South Africa takes over the G20 presidency and for the first time ever, the G20 will be hosted in Africa. Watch our video below to learn more about the G20 and why next year's is a big deal.

  • In Durban, South Africa, informal settlements are on the front lines of the climate crisis, facing not only environmental challenges, but also significant health impacts. But the community is coming together to create change and fight back — below is a closer look at how they're doing it. ⬇️ This short film has been produced by Open Planet with support from Wellcome Trust.
