Last week, as I kicked off a long-term vision and strategy project, I took a unique approach. I had my clients share a bias they hold about the project during introductions. I didn't know what to expect, but acknowledging the truism that we all carry biases, especially seasoned leaders, was key. The comments provided a platform for their unconscious beliefs to surface. We didn't dissect or challenge each other's biases; instead, we let them breathe. This simple act laid a foundation for a more profound understanding before diving into the project. The power lies in admitting our biases, both to ourselves and our team. It's a clarity that helps us recognize when bias might influence our judgment. Consider trying this approach with your next team. Acknowledging bias can be a powerful tool in cultivating open communication and fostering clearer perspectives. #LeadershipInsights #TeamStrategy #Bias #LeadershipDevelopment #TeamBuilding #StrategyProject #Projectlaunch #Vision #onpurpose

Here's how you level-up your strategic leadership with tradeoffs...
Facing financial constraints is a shared experience for companies, big and small, in '24. While constraints can bring stress, they also spark scrappiness, creativity, and strategic shifts. My advice to clients? Embrace constraints, even when the budget allows for flexibility. It's a secret sauce for leveling up as a strategic leader. Here's a tip to practice setting constraints: Shift from identifying priorities to making tradeoffs. Tradeoffs guide you beyond checkboxes, preventing the pursuit of every opportunity – a path that can scatter your team and risk burnout. They force you to rank your priorities and decide what you will do even over another great choice. As a leader, you might grapple with the tradeoff between short-term gains and long-term growth. Opting for immediate wins may impact the future – a classic strategic tradeoff. Choosing one approach this year, or quarter can still be a “two-way door,” allowing shifts if the business context changes. Here are a few tradeoffs to surface and share with your team this year. Decide which one you'll pursue EVEN OVER the other good alternative. Then, check back in a few months and see what you’ve learned, and what you should iterate on: 💡 Standardization, even over customization 💡 Change, even over stability 💡 Drive core business, even over expanding service offerings 💡 Flawless Execution, even over detailed planning Leaders: What tradeoffs will you make this year? #strategicdecisions #TradeoffWisdom #PrioritySetting #constraints #tradeoffs #strategicinsights #strategicplanning #decisionmaking

The story of a name...
When I founded my business, I chose the name On Purpose Leadership Coaching. This name holds deep significance for me. It encapsulates both intentionality and purpose. Leaving my previous company of 15 years was full of intention: 🌈 The intention to support and learn from a more diverse range of clients 🏠 The intention to work from home and set my own hours 👨👩👦👦 The intention to be more present with my family and community 💗 The intention to lead a fuller, healthier and richer life The choice was not without loss, but these intentions fuel my purpose. ✨ To support my 1:1 coaching clients in deepening their connection to purpose, I've created a customized workbook. The workbook is designed to help them track their goals, complete assignments, and find inspiration in their progress over our time together. What about you? What are your intentional choices? What do you have to let go of to move toward your purpose? #onpurpose #leadership #leadershipcoaching #leadershipdevelopment #purposedriven #purpose #intentions
