What a week! After one of the busiest times of the year, I am taking a quick moment to reflect. Last week, I had the chance to attend Product Management Festival and Tech Leadership Summit, and it was such a valuable experience. While all the talks were truly amazing, a few stood out for me: • Bradley Horowitz discussed Leadership through Uncertainty, which felt incredibly relevant in today's fast-changing environment. • Archana Kannan emphasized the importance of Building with a Beginner's Mindset—a great reminder to stay curious and open to new ideas. She explained how this approach shapes product development at Slack (like Huddles) and has influenced her own career journey. • Oana Iordachescu gave practical advice on turning Culture Clash into Culture Catalyst, sharing funny and insightful examples from her multicultural team experiences to show how cultural differences can be strengths. • Jeroen Kemperman talked about using Critical User Journeys (CUJs) to address security challenges. His team's measure of success is when users don't even notice their work—nothing going wrong means they've done their job perfectly. • Stef Van Grieken shared his work at Cradle, a startup simplifying protein engineering with machine learning. Their "GPT for proteins" tools drastically cut research costs and accelerate time-to-market by optimizing protein properties in one workflow, huge potential to disrupt the space. Business Agility Day 2024 featured a lineup of truly inspirational talks on promoting, implementing, and measuring agile transformation. While every session offered valuable insights, these moments particularly stood out: • Albin Kurti, Prime Minister of Kosova, opened with an inspiring keynote on Leading a Nation Through Transformation, highlighting the opportunities Kosova offers (he also gave a shoutout to Dua Lipa) • Boris Scholl (GM for Cloud + AI engineering at Microsoft) presented a compelling case for investing in AI, highlighting with real numbers on how AI is driving measurable business value. • The Unconference was a delightful session that fostered interactive, attendee-led discussions, creating a unique, hands-on learning environment. • Harmit Singh, responsible for Levi's turnaround, shared the 7 essential criteria for sustainable transformation, followed by an incredible Levi’s fashion show featuring non-models, celebrating authenticity. Measuring What Matters: Task Completion in User Experience Sign-ups are just the start, but to truly understand your app’s value, focus on task completion. How easily and efficiently can users achieve their goals. That’s the real metric of success. In order to measure task completion, we need to track: ✔️Completion rates: What percentage of users finish key tasks? ⏱️ Time on task: How long does it take to complete an action? 🔻 Drop-off points: Where are users getting stuck or abandoning the process?
