Congratulations to Equinor on reaching financial close for Empire Wind 1 as we kick off what will surely be an impressive 2025! This milestone represents a significant step toward delivering this major #offshorewind project for New York. With the redevelopment of the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal already creating jobs to support the U.S. supply chain, this project is a shining example of how we can align our state's leadership with economic growth.
Great news to bring in the New Year: Equinor has achieved financial close for Empire Wind 1, marking a significant milestone for the first #offshore energy project to deliver power directly into New York City. As Molly Morris, President of Equinor Renewables Americas, commented: “Today's financial close maintains the momentum we have built toward bringing a significant new source of power to the grid that will strengthen US energy security and build economic growth. Our redevelopment of the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal is already putting more than 1,000 people to work while fueling a new American supply chain. Equinor is proud to play a part in advancing domestic energy solutions safely, efficiently, and for the long term.” Empire Wind 1 is on track to power half a million #NewYork homes. Together, we are creating a stronger, more secure #energy future in the U.S.
