We so enjoyed visiting with Jon Glasco a the Smart City Expo World Congress this year and talking about how and why we operate! Thanks for the kind words, we're always grateful for the opportunity to share learnings [both good and not so good] to benefit others!
Large cities and surrounding communities and rural areas should benefit from knowledge sharing and regional problem-solving. For an example of how this works, consider the Dallas Innovation Alliance (DIA) and North Texas Innovation Alliance (NTXIA). The DIA and NTXIA have an impressive history of initiatives across the spectrum of urban and regional challenges. The NTXIA mission is "to create the most connected, smart and resilient region in the country." By connecting DIA’s city-level focus with NTXIA’s regional ambitions, the partnership ensures that innovation contributes to a sustainable and inclusive smart region. 👍 How the DIA and NTXIA serve as a unique model of cooperative urban and regional innovation: ◾ The Internet for North Texas Coalition (I4NTX) builds upon "Internet for All" efforts in Dallas by expanding regional broadband access, reducing disparities in broadband access and highlighting broadband as part of critical infrastructure. ◾ The NTXIA Urban Resilience Fellows Program, a partnership with local universities connects students from academia with community and industry partners across the Dallas-Fort Worth ecosystem. The program supports development of cross-sector strategies and complements efforts in Dallas by focusing on regional knowledge sharing and innovation scalability. A key objective of this pioneering initiative is to explore new perspectives from universities and urban and regional innovators. “We’re hopeful to have ‘lightbulb moments’ for our community partners,” said Jennifer Sanders, co-founder and executive director of the NTXIA and DIA. ◾ Lake Cities Broadband is a public-private partnership formed to deploy a broadband fiber network to households and businesses in the Lake Cities area (consisting of four North Texas communities). The project includes middle-mile fiber capacity to support government services by connecting public buildings and facilities. ◾ Collaborative attendance of NTXIA and DIA at events such as the Smart City Expo in Barcelona enables the NTXIA to connect with global smart city initiatives to support regional startups and deployment of new solutions and technologies at the regional level. The Smart Cities Global Startup Challenge enables NTXIA to pursue opportunities for regional tech startups through competitions and partnerships. These initiatives exemplify how a unified strategy for a smart region can bridge urban and regional divides, fostering inclusive access to innovation. #Dallas #DIA #NTXIA #I4NTX #SCEWC #innovation #digitalequity #broadband #resilience #startups #smartregion Smart City Expo World Congress Kelsey Neely Bierbower Luke Antoniou SmartCitiesWorld Sandra Baer Joe Appleton Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners American Society for Public Administration
