Marketing Tip Headed Into 2025 - posting more content on social media is not a magic bullet for more sales. Let's do some math. Let's say you're a small craft beverage brand mainly using FB & IG, with around 8K followers on each platform. At a generous 2%, only about 160 of those followers actually see your organic posts. And let's say your post engagement rate is around 4%, so of those 160, only about 6 of them actually engage with you (which means they are more likely to see it again if they engage). Then, those 6 people would need at least 7 interactions with your content to get close to a purchase decision, which does not happen fast. You can't post multiple times a day, 7 days a week, because the algorithms will cannibalize your content and show it to even fewer people. Additionally, those 6 people are also getting fed content from other brands. So, the argument many owners/operators make that sales will magically increase by posting more and more often on social media about your beverage brand is highly fallacious. You don't need MORE content; you need MORE ENGAGING content. You don't need to post more often; you need diversity in your digital marketing efforts. Do you need to be on every marketing channel out there? No, but you need to be on the ones that support your revenue streams, it needs to garner high engagement, and it needs to speak to your target audiences. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk

It's a big problem in marketing: There are SO MANY things you can do. What should we do first? Where to begin? Pause and think about it. Before you write another article... Before you make another TikTok video... Before you make another LinkedIn Post... Check to see if you can improve something at the END of the lead generation process. If you can make those last links in the chain work harder, everything else you do in marketing, forever after, will be more effective. Do marketing backwards. Start from the end and then move backwards through the experience. Upwards through the funnel. Because if there's a leak in your bucket, no amount of water will fill it. Here are 10 things to do first in digital, based on 1000+ conversations over the last few decades.
