At Norton Children’s, our mission of providing exceptional care knows no bounds. Recently, Delwyn McOmber, M.D., and Michael Ruppe, MD, exemplified this commitment by participating in a cardiac surgical mission in Chiapas, Mexico, with Heartcare International. As part of a multinational team, they helped perform life-changing surgeries on 15 children with congenital heart disease, bringing hope and healing to families in need. This mission highlights the diverse ways our physicians give back through philanthropy and volunteerism, extending the Norton Children’s mission to a global community. Their work is a reminder that collaboration and compassion can make an extraordinary impact—no matter where in the world it’s needed. 🌟

⭐️ Meet Hannah, a second grader with a heart full of gold! During her Safety City field trip, Hannah insisted on bringing money to donate because she wanted to help people in the hospital. Her mom, who recently completed her last treatment for breast cancer under the care of Dr. Hargis at Norton Cancer Institute – St. Matthews, shared that Hannah's love language is gift-giving. Whether it’s baking treats for her teachers or organizing a bake sale with her sister to support their school counselor, Hannah is always thinking of ways to spread kindness. 💖 Hannah’s compassion has grown even more after seeing the generosity and care shown to her family during her mom’s treatment. Her pediatrician, Dr. Erica Bailen, also plays a special role in their lives, earning lots of love from both Hannah and her sister, Julia. Hannah’s thoughtful donation and her love for helping others remind us all of the power of community and giving back. Thank you, Hannah, for showing us how small acts of kindness can make a big difference! 🌈

⭐️ Where Hope Thrives 💫 The halls of Norton Children’s Hospital are often filled with the sounds of beeping monitors and footsteps, but on the seventh floor, music therapist Brett Northrup, MT-BC, is changing the tune. With over a decade of experience serving pediatric oncology patients, Brett uses music to bring comfort, joy, and healing to patients and their families during the toughest times. For 4-year-old Trey Lowman, who is battling an aggressive brain cancer, music therapy has become a bright spot in his journey. Whether it’s banging on drums, shaking maracas, or playing the piano, Brett helps Trey find moments of pure joy, giving his family precious memories in the midst of a difficult fight. "Even in a dark time, to see Trey being a kid and having fun warms my heart,” said Trey’s mom, Ebony. Learn more about how interventions like active music-making, relaxation, and songwriting, music therapy helps patients like Trey overcome fear, reduce anxiety, and simply be kids again. https://lnkd.in/e5DgZh3b ➡️ Do you have a story of hope to share with us?
