Securing an #SBIR / #STTR award is a win, but it’s only the beginning. Companies need a well-thought-out plan to navigate the path to commercial success.
About us
The New Mexico Federal and State Technology (NM FAST) program is a federally-funded (SBA) program to assist small businesses in New Mexico in the pursuit and acquisition of Small Business Innovative Research/Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) awards. Securing federal funding for your innovation is a critical step towards commercial success. SBIR and STTR programs offer more than $2.5 billion dollars annually to support the development of technology by small businesses across the nation and are an excellent source of undiluted early stage capital, but they are highly competitive. Together, we assemble a team of advocates who will help you evaluate the feasibility of your idea and apply for an SBIR or STTR. The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program is a highly competitive program that encourages domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development (R/R&D) that has the potential for commercialization. Through a competitive awards-based program, SBIR enables small businesses to explore their technological potential and provides an incentive to profit from its commercialization. By including qualified small businesses in the nation’s R&D arena, high-tech innovation is stimulated and the U.S. builds entrepreneurial spirit as it meets specific R&D needs. Through NM FAST, qualified businesses statewide receive assistance through a series of introductory workshops, webinars, and a resource directory. In addition, the program will offer select companies FAST Impact Assistance, which provides one-on-one expert proposal development assistance and funding for professional services. NM FAST provides assistance through compliance matrices to help keep you on track and make sure you are following all formatting and content requirements, proposal review to ensure all required information is accounted for, and micro-grants.
