About us
New York Common Pantry is New York City's largest community-based food pantry that focuses on under-served communities throughout NYC. We offer our services through several programs. Our Choice Pantry Program is designed to meet the needs of our families by providing culturally-appropriate and nutritiously-balanced food. This model empowers our Pantry members by encouraging them to select the food they would like to receive. Groceries are distributed as follows: • East Harlem Location (8 E 109th Street, NYC): every Wednesday through Saturday, from 10am - 2:30pm • Bronx Location (1290 Hoe Avenue): every Thursday and Friday, 10am - 2:00pm, and Saturday, 10am - 2:00pm Currently the Hot Meals program at our East Harlem location serves one, to-go meal daily, Monday through Friday, at 2:30 pm. Brown Bag lunches are served on weekends and holidays, from 4:00 – 5:00 pm. Project Dignity’s array of services is designed to meet the most basic needs of our homeless visitors – food, hygiene services and mail service – as well as the larger, more challenging issues they face: stable housing and access to public benefits. Help 365 helps our guests achieve stability and access to entitled benefits, such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Social Security Supplemental Income. It also provides assistance with accessing other appropriate resources to prevent families from being evicted from their homes and by making employment referrals. Nourish, our Senior Nutrition Program, aims to improve the health of low-income individuals who are 60+ years old by providing nutritious food choices from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Nourish serves 16,000+ eligible seniors/month at 90+ sites located in Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and lower Westchester County. Live Healthy! encourages participants to embrace healthy eating, active living, resiliency skills, and social support to improve overall quality of life.

We’re excited to share a special donation made by TRON DAO. We just received our first donation of 3,000 bananas! These bananas will be distributed through New York Common Pantry’s Food Programs - Hot Meals, Choice Pantry Manhattan, Choice Pantry Bronx, and Mobile Pantry. Between these programs we serve around 6,000 families each week. Bananas are a staple, and these donations will allow us to cut back on the number we purchase during the month of January. This banana donation project came together when H.E. Justin Sun, founder of Tron, acquired Maurizio Cattelan’s work, ‘Comedian’ for $6.2 million. He then bought 100,000 bananas from Shah Alam, a street fruit merchant in New York to donate these bananas to food pantries and communities in need. #foodpantry #bananaart #newyorkcity #nyc

New York Common Pantry has concluded its toy distribution! On our final toy distribution day at the Bronx Pantry, we provided 333 gift cards and stocking stuffers. We were joined by CBS New York for their #BetterTogether Season of Giving Campaign where they captured the toy distribution and spoke with NYCP Board Member, staff and Pantry participants. In total, during this holiday season, we distibuted 1,136 gift cards and stocking stuffers! Thanks to all for bringing joy and warmth to families in the community. Special thanks to the team at the Bronx Pantry, volunteers, and Santa for making it a more festive day! #Foodpantry #foodpantry #pantry #newyorkcity #nyc #volunteers #holidaygiving #seasonofgiving #cbsnyc #toydrive

New York Common Pantry reposted this
Our team recently volunteered at the New York Common Pantry, a non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce hunger and promote dignity, health and self-sufficiency. This initiative was an opportunity for us to connect and support New York City's largest community-based food pantry that focuses on under-served communities throughout the city. It was a meaningful experience, as we came together to assemble produce bags, organize additional items and package dog food for pet owners who may need a little extra help. We truly hope our contributions made the holidays a bit brighter for our community members and their furry friends. #volunteer #veterans #veteranowned #veteranownedbusiness #community #engagement #communitysupport #communityengagement #holidays #givingback #giveback #supportyourcommunity #teamworkdreamwork #military #militaryveterans

Thank you New York City FC for joining New York Common Pantry and helping to feed our neighbors. Volunteers packed Brown Bag meals to go - a sandwich, snack, and beverage and set up the lower level for the afternoon Hot Meals service. Thanks also for assembling the beautiful tray of cookies for our guests to enjoy during the toy distribution day. You can help fight hunger and poverty by getting involved today.
