The Nebraska Electric Generation & Transmission Cooperative (NEG&T) has secured a $200M federal grant through the USDA’s New ERA program.⚡ This transformative project will power 170,000 homes annually, cut 2.2M+ tons of climate pollution/year and create up to 425 jobs. The Nebraska Department of Economic Development dished out over $8.3 million in Community Development Block Grant funds to 23 projects across the state. A $1M USDA grant will upgrade distance learning systems across 11 rural Nebraska communities, benefiting 5,000+ students in 21 public high schools. “This investment bridges divides, providing rural students with high-quality education and strengthening workforce prospects,” said Acting State Director Joan Scheel. https://ow.ly/zCr250Uw330
