Had the opportunity to attend the NC SBTDC Becoming Investor Ready Workshop at 79° West in Pittsboro, and what an insightful experience it was! While I’ve already been working with SBTDC, I didn’t realize the full depth of resources and support they offer for entrepreneurs. This workshop provided valuable insights into preparing for investors, and I’m excited to expand my knowledge and experience with their guidance. We’ve applied for the $100K NC IDEA Ecosystem Grant, and we’re looking forward to seeing if we’re selected. Rural communities often face a significant gap in access to support services and entrepreneurial pathways. Geographic and physical distances make it harder to connect with resources, knowledge, and markets. This is where Nearby Nearby plays a crucial role. As the world’s first local discovery platform purpose-built for rural America, we’re helping bridge this gap by: • Centralizing local information to make it easier to discover businesses, events, and services. • Raising awareness of existing entrepreneurial resources and opportunities. • Creating connections between people, communities, and businesses, no matter the distance. By addressing these challenges, we’re fostering a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem in rural America—helping small businesses thrive, creating opportunities for growth, and strengthening local economies. Over the past few months, I’ve witnessed something truly amazing: the power of a single connection and what can be accomplished when people come together. But the reality is, we’ve run out of funding, and there are still 4-5 more months of cold weather ahead in the mountains.
