What a fantastic celebration of Navy tradition, camaraderie, and honor! The 249th Navy Ball at the Missouri Athletic Club on October 25th, 2024, was an unforgettable evening, bringing together leaders and supporters of the maritime community in St. Louis.
Rear Admiral Stephen R. Tedford, USN, Program Executive Officer for Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons, delivered an enlightening speech that connected past, present, and future, resonating deeply with all in attendance. Master of ceremonies Wayne Chauncey, past-president of the Navy League St. Louis Council and a Boeing employee, expertly opened the night, setting the tone for an evening of shared pride and celebration.
Distinguished guests included Saint Louis County Executive Sam Page, Chesterfield Mayor Bob Nation, and representatives from maritime powerhouses such as Boeing, ADM, Mastercard, the Tug Pilots Association, the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, US Transportation Command, US Coast Guard Sector Upper Mississippi River, Navy Talent Acquisitions Group Mid-America, Navy Operational Support Group St. Louis, Navy Information Operations Command, NJROTC Washington, and the Naval Sea Cadet Corps Battleship Missouri Division. Their presence underscored the unity and strength of our maritime community in St. Louis.
The evening was a beautiful tapestry of Navy traditions and customs. As we gathered for dinner and Rear Admiral Tedford’s inspiring words, pride and camaraderie filled the room, a testament to the spirit of this distinguished service. The night was electric, with music and dancing carrying us through to the midnight hour.
