It’s January, which means that the 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule published by CMS has taken effect. It includes two new CPT codes aimed at improving cardiovascular care and that will be reimbursed at approximately $6 (0.18 RVUs) per patient: 💡 G0537 – This covers administering an ASCVD (Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease) risk assessment tool for patients without a current cardiovascular disease diagnosis and with at least one predisposing condition (e.g., hypertension, diabetes) that increases ASCVD risk. 💡 G0538 – Reimbursable for patients without a current cardiovascular disease diagnosis and determined to be at intermediate, medium, or high risk for ASCVD after an assessment, and includes medication management, blood pressure, and cholesterol management, and smoking cessation. If you already use Navina, you’re ahead of the curve: our AI-powered platform automatically calculates ASCVD scores for patients. As you continue working to keep your patients’ hearts healthy, don’t forget to code G0537 or G0538 for proper reimbursement.
