In 2019, Untitled Goose Game took home the award for Gameplay Design, New IP thanks to its hilariously fun gameplay where players caused havoc as a mischievous goose. Though it may not have appeared so at the time, Mario Superstar Baseball is a mechanically deep game, with great gameplay, vast roster, and bursting with charm at the seams. Developer of the Day: Eric Barone! Better known as Concerned Ape, Barone was the solo developer of the smash hit indie game Stardew Valley. Barone developed the title over the course of four and a half years, while working ten hour days, seven days a week. Its fair to say that Barone's dedication to his craft has paid off, with Stardew Valley becoming a best-seller and beloved by millions of gamers. 2003 was yet another year filled to the brim with amazing titles, with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time only narrowly winning Game of the Year.
