The City of Chattanooga has long been a city that values innovation and inclusivity, and the city's Builder’s Blueprint program is a shining example! This groundbreaking initiative aims to create a new pipeline of general contractors – focusing on empowering Minority- and Women-owned Business Enterprises – and making the dream of owning and operating a construction business more attainable for all. In addition to financial counseling, mentorship and access to capital, the program also reduces the costs of obtaining a general contractor’s license – a burden that can overwhelm many aspiring business owners. The Builder’s Blueprint program directly results from NLC’s Southern Cities Economic Inclusion Initiative (SCEI), now in its third cycle of driving transformative change.
