  • Meet Calvin Chappell (He/Him), Legal Clerk    Calvin Chappell is a second-year Legal Clerk at the National Hockey League. The Law Clerk program at the NHL is unique a two-year program that allows newly graduated students to begin their careers in an in-house role. Prior to joining the NHL, Calvin was an New York University School of Law Sports Law Association member and interned with the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA). However, his love for sports pre-dates his legal experience. Calvin and his father bonded over sports throughout his childhood. During law school, Calvin lost his father to cancer. That experience taught him to value life and inspired him to work in the sports law field, which made him happy and allowed him to honor his father’s memory.    As a Legal Clerk, Calvin has the opportunity to be a part of all areas of the NHL legal department. Each day is different as he can draft event contracts, privacy memos, music licenses, and more. His favorite part of the program is the variety of experiences, which have allowed him to identify his passion for Player Health & Safety and to learn more about his other specialty interests. Calvin hopes to continue to grow in his career building off his time at the NHL.    Calvin is an active member of the NHL’s Employee Resource Group (ERG) Hockey in Color. Hockey in Color is a safe, supportive, and inclusive space intending to build community and enhance careers. It strives to create an equitable work environment for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) employees through action in service to one another, emphasizing opportunity, leadership development, and education. He attends group conversations and luncheons and has felt such a welcoming and belonging environment in the ERG and the League.    Join the League -> https://lnkd.in/eJYYc-gd     #NHLCareers #SportsLaw #HumansOverHighlights #EmployeeSpotlight #HockeyFightsCancer

  • Meet Kaitie Lindsay (She/Her), Coordinator, Human Resources    Kaitie Lindsay was put into ice skates before she could even walk. When she was eight, Kaitie jumped from figure skating to ice hockey. She was always fascinated by the community that hockey has among fans and players. In the Seattle Kraken's inaugural season, Kaitie served as an NHL off-ice official after graduating from college. After the 2021-22 season, she transferred to Boston, where she was the only female off-ice crew member. She loved working in hockey and set her eye on a full-time position. In September 2023, Kaitie joined the National Hockey League as a full-time employee in the Human Resources department.     Kaitie works closely with others in HR to post job listings, assist the recruiting team, manage internal applicants, and onboard new employees. Her favorite project to work on is the Leagues Linemate Buddy program. Kaitie spearheaded this project just months after joining the NHL. The Linemate Buddy program pairs new employees at the NHL with current employees to help ease the transition into this unfamiliar environment. After running a handful of focus groups and redefining the program based on their feedback, Kaitie and the onboarding team officially launched the Linemate Buddy program in September 2024. Since its inception, Kaitie has received more than 40 volunteers for the program and has been pairing all new full-time employees across the New York City, Toronto and Montreal offices with buddies.    Kaitie currently acts as the Membership Subcommittee Chair for the NHL Women Employee Resource Group (ERG). In this position, she works with ERG leadership to gather feedback on how the group can best serve its members. She firmly believes in the hockey community’s inclusion efforts, and looks forward to seeing the sport grow in more markets and seeing more female faces move into positions of power across the League.    Join the League -> https://lnkd.in/eJYYc-gd    #NHLCareers #WomenInSports #HumansOverHighlights #EmployeeSpotlight
