NCSL mourns with the nation the loss of President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at the age of 100. President Carter served two senate terms in the George State Assembly from 1963 to 1967 before becoming Georgia’s 76th governor in 1971 and was the only Georgian elected president of the United States. "We were grateful to have hosted President Carter at our 2013 NCSL Legislative Summit in Atlanta, where he spoke about his ongoing work on diplomacy and advancing democracy in his post-presidential life," says Tim Storey, NCSL Chief Executive Officer.
