  • Grandparents, this one’s for you! 💙

Caring for grandchildren could actually help grandparents live longer! 👴 If you were looking for some data to help encourage your parents to help out with your kids, look no further! Here are some findings from the Berlin Aging Study. Researchers followed seniors over 20 years, and guess what they found? Grandparents who helped with childcare had mortality rates that were 37% lower than grandparents who did not. So yes, those sweet (and busy and crazy!) moments with grandkids might actually add years to their lives! When your parents spend time with their grandkids, they’re staying active, socially engaged, and it can reduce stress - which are all crucial for healthy aging. We see active grandparents over at Nanit too. About 10% of Nanit users are grandparents. We know they love Nanit because it’s helping them to stay connected to the family from wherever they are. With Nanit, grandparents can pitch in and still feel supportive—whether it’s checking on the baby’s sleep or catching those sweet memories in the app. So over this holiday season, feel free to encourage your parents to help out with your kids! You will not only be giving yourself a break but might be helping your parents too! PS: if giving your parents or in-laws access to your Nanit makes you a little uneasy… don’t worry! You can remove or add them whenever you’d like in your app.

From a personal chef to a fun day out, we polled the Nanit team on their dream gifts this holiday season. (Hint: more spa days!) We asked our own Nanit parents - the day-in, day-out heroes working tirelessly on a mission of empowering all parents with data-fueled sleep and care solutions - on what they most wanted this holiday season. Overwhelmingly and perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s not a nice new pair of shoes, but more time in the day, more cooks in the kitchen (literally) and more moments of pure relaxation. Who can relate? Big thanks to Kayla Klein, Quynh Dang, Amit Kumar, Stephanie Mirch, Laura T. and Melanie Bond for sharing their wishlists!

Director of Product at Pinterest. Harvard MBA. Sharing insights for ambitious women.

The hardest part of early parenting isn’t the sleepless nights. It’s the constant, relentless change. One day, your baby’s snug in a swaddle. The next, they’re rolling, and you’re scrambling for a sleep sack. Then it’s introducing solids. Switching to a sippy cup. Dropping naps. Preschool. Potty training. Welcoming a sibling. Moving to a big kid bed. The transitions feel endless because they are. And every change comes with its own mountain of stress. We read books, scroll forums, and brace for what might go wrong. The mental load is heavy, and the fear of messing things up makes it heavier. But here’s what I’ve learned: the hardest part is almost always the worrying. It’s the overthinking, the fear of shaking up what’s already working. And yet, every time, it somehow works out. Recently, we moved our kids into the same room. This time, I didn’t read the books or didn’t map out a strategy. I just hyped it up for our toddler and crossed my fingers. To my surprise, it went smoother than I could’ve imagined. So I’m learning to trust myself more. Because every change, no matter how overwhelming, eventually falls into place. What your kids need most is your belief that they’re ready, even when you’re not sure you are. __ Follow me Tamara Hinckley for insights for ambitious women.

  • A big thank you to all our team members who, last week, helped pack 100 mPOWHER kits for expectant mothers as part of our ongoing partnership with Saving Mothers. Throughout 2024, Nanit is proud to support Saving Mothers, an incredible organization dedicated to eliminating preventable maternal deaths and birth-related complications in under-resourced areas. Our collaboration has included contributing to the construction of a maternity ward in Kenya and donating over 2,500 sleepwear items to benefit mothers and babies through their mPOWHER program. Our latest contribution involved packing 100 mPOWHER kits, each containing a blood pressure cuff to help reduce the risk of cardiovascular issues and a pack of information cards to empower pregnant women through self-advocacy, along with a donated Nanit newborn bodysuit. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for us to come together as a team and make a tangible difference in the lives of expectant mothers and their babies. #SavingMothers #CommunityImpact #Partnership #GivingBack #MaternalHealth #Nanit #SocialGood

  • We’re honored to share a heartfelt message we recently received from one of our Nanit parents. At Nanit, we strive to support families in both everyday moments and extraordinary times. This message came through to our team today. I'm not sure Tor Ivry and his co-founders knew that what they were creating 10 years ago could and would have such a profound impact to change the way one can parent and the connection they would be able to have with their families. To be a bright spot for this Nanit parent while they take on a massive challenge fills me with pride and motivation to get Nanit in the hands of everyone (for the daily lullabies and the tougher moments in life). Thank you to this person for even spending a moment to send this note.
