  • Dear Village Friends, As we reflect on this season of giving, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to you for being a vital part of the N Street Village community. Your generosity and compassion make our work possible and bring hope to countless women experiencing homelessness. This year, we’ve faced sobering challenges. The latest Point-in-Time Count showed a double-digit increase in homelessness in Washington, DC, highlighting the critical need for our services. Recently, we marked the winter solstice, the longest night of the year. Yet, with each passing day, the bleakness gives way to more sunlight, offering glimmers of hope and optimism. In much the same way, when a woman comes to N Street Village, there is a shift toward the promise of brighter days ahead. Together, we provide housing, nutritious meals, healthcare, and a path to stability—creating a community where women are valued, supported, and empowered. As we look to the new year, we are committed to enhancing our impact through key initiatives, including geriatric-focused care to meet the needs of an aging homeless population. We’re also addressing mental health as a root cause of homelessness with the launch of our in-house behavioral health services program. Additionally, we are expanding our functional literacy support in key areas to improve health outcomes and boost economic stability. These efforts are part of a holistic approach to empower women to regain their dignity, health, and independence. Your continued support makes these vital services possible, and we are deeply grateful for your partnership. On behalf of everyone at N Street Village, I wish you a peaceful and light-filled holiday season. With gratitude, Portia Robertson Migas

It was an honor volunteering with Pathways to Housing DC, Horton's Kids, Inc. and N Street Village this holiday season and I very much look forward to continuing to do so next year. These organizations are doing such incredible work in our most countwrable communities. #mycompany

  • Deandra Smith had been in and out of jail too many times before she finally said, “I’m ready to change my life.” “I just liked to fight, like a sport,” she says. “I didn’t know where it came from, and then it took somebody from N Street to really sit me down and talk.” With the support of N Street Village, Deandra learned to confront and manage her emotions instead of trying to suppress them. She began to understand that her anger came from being molested at a young age, from not being protected by her mother, and from losing her grandmother... Read More https://bit.ly/49Goeb2

Each year, the staff of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund selects an organization to support during the holiday season. Today, members of the NLEOMF team delivered a truckload of coats, toiletries, hats, gloves, scarves and other clothing, cleaning supplies, and books to N Street Village, a local nonprofit that supports women experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC by offering a broad spectrum of services, housing, and advocacy in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.
