  • #WorkplaceFrustrations #NonProfitChallenges #CopingWithLoss Hey everyone, so I’ve been struggling lately and needed to vent a bit. I’ve been doing a front desk job at a non-profit for about 1.5 years now, but honestly, I'm feeling really overwhelmed. 😩 Here’s the kicker: they often leave me alone for up to 7 hours at a time. It’s like the classic “frog in boiling water” situation—you don’t realize how bad it is until it's too late. And on top of that, they’ve changed benefits without any heads-up. My only coworker who received benefits was totally thrown off, and sadly, just two nights ago, I found out he passed away from what seemed to be a heart attack. 😢 I was the first to get the news, and when my boss decided to just group text everyone the next day, I felt it was really insensitive considering just a few of us were affected. This loss made me realize how much I truly value my coworkers. It seems like the higher-ups don’t see how important we are. I'm starting to piece togeth... • #Volunteering #ITDepartment #CareerGrowth #TechSkills Hey everyone! 😊 So, here’s a little backstory: I work in a department that collaborates closely with the IT department at my company. Over time, I’ve built a friendly rapport with one particular team there. About a month ago, I decided to **volunteer** and help them out with a project. It’s been such a game-changer! Here's what happened: ✨ They began **teaching me new skills** related to their projects. 🚀 Just last week, they reached out again about another project that involves **programming** and mentioned they want to share more knowledge with me. So, I'm sitting here wondering—**Is this a good sign?** 🤔 Here's what I think: 🔍 **Career Advancement:** They wouldn’t invest this time in sharing knowledge unless they see potential in me. 🤝 **Building Relationships:** This could lead to stronger connections within the tech side of the company. 📈 **Skill Development:** Learning programming can really expand my skill ... • #BusinessSuccess #StayFit #HealthyRelationships Hey everyone! 😊 I’ve been pondering something lately: Do we really have to give up important aspects of our lives to find success in business? It’s a tricky balance, isn't it? 🤔 For me, I believe that spending an hour or two in the morning for some weight training or cardio, plus an additional 2-3 hours in the evening with my partner, doesn't have to derail my business goals. In fact, I think it can enhance my productivity and creativity! So, I'm genuinely curious: **How do you juggle staying fit, nurturing your relationship, and still making strides in your business?** Here’s what I think could help: Set a Schedule: Block out specific times in your calendar for workouts and date nights. This ensures that they’re just as important as your other business commitments. 📅 Involve Your Partner: Make fitness a fun couple's activity! Go for runs or attend classes together, turning exercise into quality time. 💑 Prioritize Your Health... Can You Balance Fitness, Love, and Growing Your Business Successfully? • #SanFranciscoJobs #TechJobLoss #DotComBust #TechIndustryTrends Hey everyone! 🌟 So, did you hear the latest news about San Francisco? It turns out that the city has shed around 26,200 tech jobs over the past couple of years. That’s the same number of jobs lost during the dot com bust! 😲 While it’s true that there are more tech workers today than back in the 90s, the sheer number of jobs disappearing is pretty alarming. Let’s break it down a bit: Raw Numbers: The fact that San Francisco is losing as many tech jobs now as it did during a major economic downturn really gets your attention. Even though the percentage may be lower compared to the past, the impact is still significant. Ongoing Decline: The job market seems to keep shrinking, which raises concerns about the future for current and aspiring tech workers. 📉 Impact on Workers: For those impacted, it can mean difficulty finding new positions, more competition for available roles, and uncertainty about job stability in the tech ... • #CorporateCareer #JobSearch #CareerAdvice Hey there! 😊 So, I’ve got a bit of a burning question for anyone who's made the leap from food service, retail, or customer service to the corporate or office world. How did you make that transition? Here’s my situation: I’ve been gradually moving up from food service to a front desk role in an office setting. I’ve gained some solid experience, and from what I’ve heard from family and seen on LinkedIn, I believe a lot of my skills could easily transfer into a traditional corporate role. But honestly, I’m feeling a bit stuck. After months of applying and searching, I landed just one interview with a startup—only to be ghosted afterward. The rest? Just auto-generated or generic rejections, or worse, no response at all! 😞 Given how tough the job market is right now, I’m trying to stay optimistic and not take it personally. I’m putting in the effort to tailor my resume and cover letter for each job, and I’m applying to multiple positions ever... Ready to Transition from Food Service to Corporate Jobs? How? • #LivingWage #CostOfLiving #JusticeForWorkers Hey everyone! I recently went apartment browsing, and let me tell you, I was stunned. I couldn't find a single one-bedroom for under $1,000—most are starting around $1.3k+. 😳 Then there’s the job market. While looking for work, I noticed that most employers are only offering $15-$18 an hour. Seriously? 😂 It feels like they know that these wages simply can’t cover everything we need for a decent life. Think about it: 🏠 Rent: Good luck finding a livable space! 🚗 Car payment: That’s if you can even afford one. 🍔 Food: Gotta eat, right? 👨👩👧👦 Family expenses: Kids, pets, you name it. 💊 Healthcare: Because we can’t ignore that! ✨ Enjoying life: What’s that even look like? It’s almost criminal how these job ads feel like traps, pushing us into a cycle of poverty. We're essentially shackled to this capitalist system that seems to thrive on low wages and high expenses. It’s the kind of situation that makes you want to shout, “something ha... Are $15-$20 Hourly Wages Keeping You Trapped in Poverty? Answers:  https://lnkd.in/gUaZEF5Z Let's Connect! • #JobInterviews #TechQuestions #ITCareer Hey there! 😊 I’m curious about the types of technical questions that come up during job interviews for entry-level IT roles, like an IT technician or help desk position. Do they lean more towards theory, like asking about switches or firewalls, or do the interviewers ask you to perform practical tasks? I've heard mixed experiences from folks! Some say they were put on the spot to demonstrate their skills, while others just had a chat about concepts. Here’s what I’ve gathered: Theory Questions: Expect questions that gauge your understanding of basic networking concepts, hardware, and software troubleshooting. Think along the lines of: What is a switch? 🖥️ How does a firewall function? 🔥 Practical Questions: Some interviews might throw a scenario your way where you need to explain how you would resolve an IT issue or even demonstrate basic troubleshooting steps. For example: How would you handle a pri... What Technical Questions Should IT Beginners Expect in Interviews? Answers:  https://lnkd.in/gpDZqD6s Let's Connect! Have you faced similar challenges? • #CodingStruggles #BeginnerAdvice #PythonProjects Hey everyone! 😊 I’ve been dipping my toes into basic coding with Python, and while I can manage the fundamentals, I often find myself totally freezing up when it comes to starting a project. It’s like I know the pieces, but I can't quite seem to put them together. I’m starting to wonder if I’m just overthinking things or if it’s a confidence issue with my coding skills. Can anyone relate? 🤔 Here are a few things I'm curious about: Overthinking vs. Insecurity: Have you ever felt stuck in your coding projects because you were worried about your abilities? Helpful Resources: Any recommendations for books or online courses that really helped you get started with your own Python projects? Learning Methods: Do you find that watching videos or tutorials works better for you when you're trying to learn a new concept? I’d love to hear your thoughts! • #CollegeStruggles #LifeAdvice #CommunityCollegeJourney Hey there! I just wanted to share a bit of my journey and see if anyone else can relate or has some advice to offer. So, here’s the deal: High School Experience: I didn’t perform as well as I had hoped, ending up with a 3.3 GPA. 😟 It just felt mediocre to me, and I didn’t even bother applying to any colleges because I was disheartened. Community College: Instead, I enrolled in a community college, hoping to find my footing. I managed to get a higher GPA of 3.8, but I ended up with an associate's degree that I now see as pretty useless. Course Rigor: I’ve come to realize that the lack of course rigor in my education might hold me back in the long run, and honestly, it’s been a bit of a downer. It feels like I’ve wasted not just my time, but also the chance to really set myself up for a successful future. 😩 So, I’m feeling a bit stuck and wondering... • #JobStruggles #WorkLife #CareerAdvice Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing well! I wanted to share my current work situation and get some advice. So here’s the scoop: Started my manager-level job in March 2023, overseeing one location. Asked for a raise back in November 2023 but didn’t get any feedback from my boss. Just kept on working. In May 2024, I received a modest 3% cost of living bump. Not much, right? Recently, a coworker was let go and I got their critical responsibilities, which means I’m now managing double the locations! 🚗💼 With the extra workload, I figured I'd be in line for a promotion to District Manager along with a nice bump in pay—usually around 10-15%. 🚀 But after two weeks, I only got a 4% raise for doing a good job, and no promotion at all! Now, I'm torn. Should I focus on my original location and let my boss sort out the extra workload? I don’t want to keep doing double duty without the corresponding title or pay. That 4% raise just feels like a drop i... Am I Being Undervalued at Work with Extra Responsibilities? Answers:  https://lnkd.in/gB-4t_35 Let's Connect! Have you faced similar challenges?
