Mustang is in the process of drilling a new well and constructing a new 1.5 million gallon elevated storage tank adjacent to our satellite office in Gunter! As the population in Mustang Special Utility District's service area continues to grow, additional means of water production and storage are needed to meet customer demand during peak times. Mustang contracted with CB&I Storage Tank to construct this 1.5 million gallon spheroid storage tank and C Miller Drilling to drill the accompanying well, helping us to maintain supply during future peak demand. This 9-million-dollar investment represents Mustang’s commitment to providing reliable, sustainable and efficient water utility services to all of our valued customers. In the photo, the grey circle is the foundation of the tower, and on the other side of the truck the smaller square is the well that will be put into service once the tower is complete!

Water towers, also known as elevated storage tanks, play a critical role in ensuring the consistent delivery of safe and reliable water to all communities. These towering structures are more than just landmarks; they are essential components of a water utility system. Water towers store treated water at elevated heights, utilizing gravity to maintain water pressure throughout the distribution system. This helps to ensure customers have access to steady water flow, even during peak demand times or power outages. Water towers also act as a buffer during pressure fluctuations, helping to regulate supply and reduce strain on pumps, which contributes to energy efficiency and system longevity. In emergencies, such as firefighting or water main breaks, water towers provide a ready reserve of water to support critical operations. They also allow maintenance and repairs to be performed on other parts of the system without disrupting water service to customers. At Mustang Special Utility District, we have 7 water towers (and one on the way!) currently providing 4.5 million gallons of storage and supporting our mission to provide reliable, sustainable, and efficient water services. 💚💧 #InfrastructureInsights

As Florida tackles water scarcity with direct potable reuse (DPR), Texas faces a similar future. With a rapidly growing population, Texas will also need to explore innovative reuse technologies to secure a sustainable water supply. Just this year, El Paso launched a similar project, the first of its kind in the State, but certainly not the last! Embracing DPR and other water-saving advancements can help Texas meet rising demands and create a resilient water future. Learn more about Direct Potable Reuse and it’s implementation in Florida in the article below! ♻️💧 #WaterReuse #TexasWater #InnovativeSolutions #SustainableGrowth

Mustang Special Utility District is in the process of constructing a new ground storage tank located at the Temple Dane Pump Station! 🚧 As the population in Mustang Special Utility District's service area continues to grow, additional means of water storage are needed to meet customer demand during peak times. Mustang contracted with Texas Aquastore to construct this 2-million-gallon storage tank at our existing pump station site, helping us to maintain supply during peak demand. The contractors are about to begin tank installation! In the photo on the left side, you can see the beginnings of the dome which will serve as the roof of the tank. To the right of the dome, you can see the foundation for the tank. Once complete, it will very closely resemble the existing tank on the right in the photo. This 3.1-million-dollar investment reflects our commitment to providing reliable, sustainable and efficient water utility services to our valued customers!
