Special kudos to Chelsea Vonder Haar for seamlessly organizing everything and making it such a smooth experience for everyone involved. 👏 Right now, we’re seeing all of our clients refuse to let the rate environment slow them down. In fact we have some breaking all time records! The best teams are gearing up for success by implementing proven best-practices sales and leadership training to crush it in 2025. From the clients we were blessed to serve, to the partners we labored alongside, to the voices we were fortunate to elevate, we’re incredibly grateful for another year of connecting, learning, and serving in the best industry on the planet. So plug in your Spotify Wrapped playlist, pour another cup of coffee (or eggnog), and join us as we look back on a memorable year. 📉 In 2024, we saw some our clients hit some impressive numbers, including: ‣ A 25% increase in average pipeline for one team at the nation's top lender ‣ A 40% decrease in loan fallout for a CD lender CRUSHING refis ‣ And a client snagging LendingTree's Top Refi Originator award 👏🏻 🏆 We won a few awards ourselves, including: ‣ An impressive 4th HousingWire Vanguard Award for Dale ‣ And Best Use of Video in eLearning from the Brandon Hall Group. ✈️ We attended some of the best events in the industry, including: ‣ ICE Mortgage Technology's Experience in Vegas ‣ HousingWire's The Gathering in Scottsdale ‣ AIME's FUSE conference in New Orleans ‣ HousingWire's IMB Summit in Dallas ‣ Mortgage Bankers Association's Annual in Denver ‣ And LendingTree's Summit in Charlotte Just to name a few... 🎙️ We also featured some of the brightest minds in mortgage In Season 3 alone, Dale interviewed Hunter Strong, Barry Habib, Mike Simonsen, Diego Sanchez, Nathan Knottingham, Kristin Messerli, Rene F. Rodriguez, Shant Banosian, and Peter Benjamin, CMB® 🙌🏻 Our Wrap got so long, we didn't even mention that Dale and Jake started a new weekly show with Coach Bill Hart and Kyle Draper💡 Needless to say, our 29th year in business was one to remember. But as we look back, we’re even more eager to look forward. There’s still work to do—to make this industry better, to smooth the process of buying a home, and to help loan officers become integral to the largest, most personal financial decision most people ever make.     💡 Transparency is the best policy Barry Habib made an interesting distinction between honesty (which is not only important, but legally mandated) and transparency (which, though not mandated, is what anyone really wants when working with an advisor) on the latest episode of Batting 1,000 with Dale Vermillion. One could even argue the pillars of advocacy are: ✅ Technical competence; ✅ Unfiltered transparency; and ✅ Fiduciary representation Customers want to know that you understand more than they do, won’t hold anything back from them, and are committed to their interests, not your own—in other words, the polar opposite of the traits and commitments of a stereotypical salesman. And so while honesty is critically important in sales, learning to practice radical transparency with your borrowers—giving them the pros and cons of their available options and guiding them toward the decision that makes the most sense to them—will truly differentiate your from countless other honest LOs who maybe aren’t willing to give truly unfiltered advice to their borrowers.     History was made last week—by a 39 year old everyone had written off, including me. Three years ago, Mark Cavendish did the unthinkable: he won FOUR stages of the Tour de France at age 36. Everyone called it the most unbelievable swan dive in cycling history and assumed he'd sunset his career tied with Eddy Merckx for most career TDF stage wins at 34 each. But Mark wanted more. So, contrary to expectations, he returned for two more Tours de France to win... nothing. He got smoked in '22 and then abandoned the race in '23 with a broken shoulder. I honestly couldn't believe Cavendish was back for another Tour when I tuned in for the Grand Depart. I immediately wrote-off the Team Astana financiers as having wasted another year attempting to over-extending the career of a 'has-been' (Team Astana infamously backed Lance Armstrong after his doping had been made public). But I was proven wrong. The team principle, who knows Cavendish (and pro cycling) saw that he could—given the right course—out-maneuver the fastest men on the planet. And it was that belief, combined with Cav's relentless dedication and perfect execution, that ultimately broke the longest-standing record in TDF history. Congrats Cav, and congrats Team Astana. Chapeaus all around.
