  • Had an incredibly refreshing conversation with a new colleague recently. Instead of asking for the “bright and shiny” candidates, he told me he’s looking for potential—the awkward, not-so-great-in-an-interview types who are willing to learn and grow. This really got me thinking. As recruiters, we’re often tasked with finding candidates who are immediately likable and a great "cultural fit." But how do we ensure the less obvious candidates—the ones who don’t shine in the traditional sense—get a fair shot? We firmly believe company culture is crucial to a successful hire, but maybe it’s time to rethink what cultural fit really means. How do we strike the balance between following client expectations and advocating for those diamonds in the rough? We’d love to hear your thoughts—how do you identify and champion potential over polish in your hiring process?

Its even easy to forget that about 𝘠𝘖𝘜𝘙𝘚𝘌𝘓𝘍! So I challenge you to take a step back on your next new hire and consider the totality of what makes them a human on this rock 🌎 we all share. I think you'd be surprised at how 𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞, and 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 most people are and how many "hidden" skills and talents are waiting to be unlocked by simply making the effort to hire the 𝘞𝘏𝘖𝘓𝘌 person. 🏆 It will improve your client experience, and your culture (probably your efficiency too) 🙌 Oh, and organizations that focus on the whole person, 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉. 🥇 That could be 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.     Just back at my desk after an inspiring week at 7 Figure MSP™ Live in San Antonio. To say I’m grateful doesn’t quite cover it—I truly needed the energy, insight, and most importantly, the sense of community that this event brought. The startup journey can often feel isolating, but being in a room filled with people who truly get it was a powerful reminder that I’m not alone. I left feeling recharged, more confident, and deeply committed to this path.
