About us

Move LA Mission Move LA’s mission is to build a broad constituency that will advocate for the development of a comprehensive, diverse, robust, clean, and financially sound public transportation system for Los Angeles County and champion strategies to accelerate its implementation. Move LA Goals > Ensure timely and faithful implementation of Measure R, the November 2008, voter-approved 1/2 cent sales tax for transportation in Los Angeles County. > Build a continuing dialogue between the business, labor, environmental and other constituencies to create an ongoing coalition in support of the development of a robust transit system in Los Angeles County. >> Identify new transportation funding opportunities to meet Los Angeles County transportation needs at local, state, and federal levels and work to secure these funds to accelerate the completion of voter-approved Measure R transit projects. > Ensure that countywide goals, including air quality and greenhouse-gas emission reduction goals as well as vehicle miles traveled (VMT) reduction goals, drive transportation decision-making in Los Angeles County. > Ensure transit-oriented land use policies are fully integrated into the transportation planning and implementation programs of LA Metro, LA County and local cities, with the inclusion of affordable housing and open space, to meet the needs of the growing Los Angeles population. > Support broad-based economic opportunity and job development in Los Angeles County as well as social, economic, and environmental justice through transportation system development. > Identify and promote opportunities to expand and integrate the use of zero-emission transportation technologies and zero-emission/renewable power generation into the infrastructure of Los Angeles County.

Our Move LA network is organizing this GoFundMe on behalf of our fellow transportation advocate Bart Reed. Many of you may know him from his role as CEO of The Transit Coalition or from his work at Sierra Club. And today is his BIRTHDAY! Those who do not know Bart Reed personally, should know that he has worked tirelessly for decades to help Los Angeles move towards a green and equitable future. He has shown up at public meetings for decades to support alternatives to driving in LA. We are truly in his debt and now he’s the one who needs help. Bart and his 18 year-old cat have been evicted from their home, after exhausting all legal remedies. While Bart has a place to stay temporarily, he needs a long-term affordable living arrangement. Bart is 73 and a person with disabilities, who walks with a rollator (wheeled walker with a built in seat for resting). He is diabetic and relies on a car and uses public transit to get to and from doctors appointments as he can not walk long distances. Bart needs our financial help. He is only receiving disability and social security payments, and has amassed significant debt that needs our immediate attention and support. We have organized this GoFundMe campaign to help establish an account to help Bart with debt and living expenses, so that he can get back on his feet. Your help will be life-changing and very appreciated. https://gofund.me/a55c96eb Hilary Norton Jeremy Stutes Denny Zane Marisa Garcia

  • If Measure A doesn’t pass, 11,196 formerly homeless people will be forced back onto the streets in South LA. That’s why we must vote YES on Measure A. People are voting now and time is running out. Help us reach voters by joining a phone bank. #YesOnA
