Montana Transparency Project
Non-profit Organizations
Empowering Montanans through the protection and promotion of transparent state and local governments.
About us
Montana Transparency Project is a non-profit, nonpartisan initiative dedicated to helping organizations and individuals prepare and keep track of public information requests–a service currently missing in the Right to Know space. Direct participation in democracy is a part of Montana’s heritage–from ballot initiatives, to our citizen legislature, to the Right to Know, Montanans are active participants in government. The framers of our state constitution included the Right to Know as a democracy-promoting provision; it calls on Montanans to take an active role in promoting government transparency. Empowering Montanans to get involved through making information requests will help create a more responsive and open government that will better serve the needs of our state. MTP was founded by Jacob Linfesty, Lydia Dal Nogare, Caroline Bullock, Addie Slanger, and Lauren Halverson. We are five young Montanans who love our state constitution and are excited to make impactful change in this space. We want to protect the promise of Montana’s constitution–including the Right to Know–for our generation and future generations.
