Marion Sligh was drafted into the US Army just after graduating from high school. He spent 22 and a half years serving his country during WWII, Korea and Vietnam as a decorated helicopter pilot and as part of the military police. After leaving the military, he continued his life of service as a pilot flying rescue missions and training law enforcement to fly. “My father has been an example of many things. Jake was brought up in a home that valued people, valued their protection and valued service. His father currently serves as a Police Sergeant, and perhaps, that upbringing is why MISSION BBQ carried the right atmosphere that attracted Jake. Respect, admiration for others and a desire to give back to his community were all values that Jake had when joining Our Team. His goal at the time was to serve alongside his dad but with the Fire Department. After being submerged in Our Culture for 3 years, Jake has found himself serving Navy Seals, Cleveland’s S.W.A.T. and many others within the community. He currently serves as Expo, GSR, Line Cook, Prep and on our Catering Team! Jake has made a tremendous impact on Our People both within and outside Our 4 Walls. He truly does our uniform justice –embodying Our Values and Serving with a Genuine Heart. He’s never stopped pursuing training for his dream! Jake officially started wearing a second uniform 8 months ago. Now fulfilling his dreams in supporting the City of Mentor as a Fireman/Paramedic, he can still be spotted in our dining room and out in town serving with the catering team.
