Why Are Environmental Remediation Services Important? Environmental remediation services are crucial for revitalizing contaminated land, protecting human health, and enhancing economic and ecological value. In a world filled with finite things let us preserve what we have left. Check out our recent blog to read more in depth about why these services are important. https://lnkd.in/gHvd9FQi

About us
Microbial Insights (MI) is a biotechnology laboratory specializing in the development and application of cutting edge molecular biological tools (MBTs) and environmental molecular diagnostics (EMDs) to describe and quantify microbial communities. Environmental Remediation: CENSUS qPCR and QuantArray analyses to quantify bacteria and functional genes involved in contaminant biodegradation including Dehalococcoides. Stable isotope probing (SIP) and Compound Specific Isotope Analysis (CSIA) to conclusively determine whether biodegradation is occurring in situ. Microbial Induced Corrosion: DNA based molecular microbiological methods (MMM) for accurate and comprehensive quantification of microorganisms responsible for MIC such as sulfate reducing bacteria and methanogens. Microbial Source Tracking: Quantify host associated biomarkers such as HF183 to identify sources of fecal pollution. MI has 26 years of experience in MBTs and EMDs and we recognize that state-of-the-art technologies must be coupled with personalized customer service. We are committed to serving our clients at each step in the process from assay selection through data interpretation.

Did you know? Microbial Insights stores DNA extracts for up to 5 years. If you’re managing a long-term project, those samples could still be useful when combined with new analyses-saving you on additional collection costs and making the most of existing resources. Reach out to Project Success - projects@microbe.com - to find out if the DNA is available and to learn about additional beneficial analysis.

Oregon State University researchers are partnering with NASA on a $525,000 NSF project to study how gravity affects microbial biofilms. They will send samples to the International Space Station in 2025 to isolate the role of capillarity, a force driving liquid movement in porous media, by eliminating gravity's influence. This research has applications in groundwater remediation, water treatment, agriculture, and space exploration. Biofilms will be 3D scanned upon return to compare growth in microgravity versus Earth. The project also includes STEM outreach, connecting students with live ISS experiments. https://lnkd.in/e8fCswgM Did you know our Bio-Extract™ kits—designed for isolating microbial DNA in the most remote locations on Earth—are now heading to space? Through Vanderbilt University’s Wond’ry Accelerator, Microbial Insights is one of only three Tennessee companies selected to contribute to innovative space health research. Our groundbreaking kits will soon be used aboard the International Space Station (ISS), paving the way for advanced microbiome monitoring in space exploration. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e93EYD5B
